The next few weeks were really hectic for Terra between school and trying to settle into her new home she had little time for anything else. Josh had become oddly distant but that was exactly what Terra expected. She was no longer in danger so he didn’t feel the need to protect her.

It was Saturday night and Terra was sitting on the couch watching movies, Amie had gone to her boyfriends and Josh was nowhere to be found. Curled up in her blanket she heard the front door open and Josh walked into the room.

“Hey” She said as he walked in and sat on the couch across from her, all he did was nod.

“Ok what crawled up your ass and died. A couple of weeks ago you were all gung ho and friendly now you are treating me like a pariah.” Staring him down she waited for her answer.

Finally with a sigh he shook his head. “You got inside of my head. Tonight I had plans to go out with the guys find a hot chick score and have a blast. But I couldn’t stop thinking of you. That’s my problem.”

Terra sat there with shock written all over her face. There was no way he meant what she thought he did. He was just feeling guilty.

“Well how about we go back to being friends and then you won’t feel so guilty.” Josh opened his mouth and was about to speak but just nodded his head.

“Ok, so what are we watching?” He said as he slipped off his shoes and scooted closer cuddling under the blankets as well.

“The woman in black. I have been dying to watch it so I ordered Chinese, it should be here in a few minutes.” As she spoke the doorbell rang and Josh stood up to answer and pulled a twenty from his pocket.

“Hey Josh can I ask you something?” He looked at her curiously but nodded none the less.

“How come you kept my secret?” Terra waited quietly for her answer.

“Because I saw how much it meant to you. Even though you were hurting you wanted your mom to come back to you. I have known you since we were kids. I know you. I figured I would just protect you and make sure you always had someone there for you whenever you needed them.” Josh finally finished and Terra felt her stomach tighten with emotion.

Why did Josh have to be Josh? Her heart wanted him as well as the rest of her but she knew nothing could ever come of it. There was no way he would ever be more interested than a one night stand.

“Thank you. If it was not for you I don’t know where I would be right now.” Giving him a brief kiss on the cheek they went back to the movie but she couldn’t help but notice how close he was to her. Butterflies ripped through her stomach and she couldn’t help but feel excited at his close proximity.

When the movie ended Terra went to the kitchen to put their dishes away and was surprised when she turned around to see Josh looking at her. A blush crept up her cheeks and she knew that one move and she was his. As if he was reading her thoughts slowly he walked closer and brought her face to his. He kissed her deeply and Terra felt her knees grow weak. He picked her gently and she wrapped her legs around him as he carried her to his bedroom and slowly laid her down on the bed, he kissed her the skin of her neck and Terra’s whole body erupted in flames. It didn’t take long and they were both lost in total bliss.

Terra woke up to an empty bed and she took a minute to remember what had happened the night before. She had slept with Josh. “Shit.” She hissed and ran to her room hoping to avoid him. She knew that it would mistake. She was nothing to him. For all she knew he thought of her as an easy piece of ass. Fuming she turned the shower to hot and started getting ready for the day.

By the time she walked down stairs Josh was still nowhere to be found so she grabbed her purse and made her way to the park. As she walked she tried to think of everything but Josh. how would she face him again?

“Hey Terra!” Terra turned around trying to figure out who was calling for her. Finally she found the source of the voice. Aiden a kid in her English class was jogging her way. And boy did he look good. He was shirtless and his toned abs had a slight sheen from his run.

“Hey what are you up to?” He asked flashing her a beautiful smile. Terra decided to have a little fun with him and see where it leads to.

“Oh nothing, walking around. Kind of lonely.” She sighed hoping he would get the hint.

“Well let me escort the pretty lady home.” Terra nodded and giggled.

As they walked they talked about trivial things. And Terra made sure that Aiden got the hint. He was definitely someone she would like to get to know better. And he was incredibly sweet. When they walked up to the porch of the house Terra briefly noticed Josh’s car in the driveway.

“So would you like to go out sometime? Maybe next Friday?” Terra nodded and smiled

“I would love to Aiden.” She scribbled down her number and gave him a brief kiss before walking inside.

As soon as she walked through the door she heard a door slam upstairs and she felt the guilt Tear through her.
