Chapter 1

Sequal to "Let The Fire Start"

Part 1, A New Life

I woke up to the sound of sirens. My eyes burned, my throat scratched. Is

this death? I opened my eyes and saw only black. I reached my hand up and

pushed the surface away. I looked into the gray sky. Gray? No, it was filled

with smoke and ash. I coughed and rubbed my eyes.

What happened? I pushed myself up in a sitting position. The sirens were

getting louder. I felt my forehead, it was steaming hot. When I looked

around, all I saw was piles of ash, and fire.

I got up slowly. My head pounded. Then I realized where I was.

"Dodge?" I called out. "Alex? Is anyone here? Ben?"

No answer.

I heard people shouting. The sirens were here. I started to run the other

way just as I saw the first fire fighter. I hid behind piles of rubble whenever

one got to close to me. Just as I reached the edge, one saw me.

"Hey you!" He shouted. "Get back here!"

I quickly changed into a wolf and ran away. But not

before he saw me.

I ran untill my lungs burned, untill my legs ached and I couldn't take another

step. When I finally collapsed, I was far enough away.

"Hazel?" Someone said. "Guys its her!" I thought it was Dodge. So I reached

out. But a different hand grabbed mine. A thin soft hand. Not Dodge's rough

callosed fingers.

I pulled my arm away, but they held it in a firm grip. I looked and saw a guy

with short blonde hair, and stormy eyes. Gray eyes? It was Jason. He was

one of the people holding me, while Alyssa cut my face on that night.

I scrambled to my feet. "Get the hell away from me!" I shouted as I backed

up, only to bump into someone else. I turned around and saw Mitch. The

other one.

I frantically moved away from him.

"Get out of here you assholes!" I screamed.

"Stop screaming! Do you want them to hear us?" Jason shushed me.

"Then go away!" I snapped.

They laughed. I heard someone else join in. "Do you think we're going to

leave one of our own, here all alone?" Alyssa stepped out of the shadows,

followed by two more guys I didn't know.

"I'm not one of you! You yourself said that."

"I know but, your alone." She said with a gentle smile.

"I'm not alone!" I said with my chin up high.

"No? Then where's your little dog pack." She said looking around. "I don't

see them. Wouldn't they have found you by now?"

My heart sank. They should've been here. "I... I." I didn't have an answer.

"Thought so. Well since they left you to get caught, or maybe even die, you

can come with us."

"What?" I said.

"Hazel. They left you." Alyssa said, sweeping peices of her hair back.

"No they couldn't have! Their probably still looking for me!" I whispered.

"It's time to face the facts. Dodge doesn't love you. He would've made them

stay and look for you if he did. And Alex." She sneered at his name. "Well he

doesn't matter."

"I know about you and Alex." I showed her the necklace.

"So he gave you my old necklace." She scowled. Obviously she didn't like that

he gave it to me. "It doesn't matter."

I nodded.

"So are you coming with us. Or are you going to run off and search for the

pack, that you'll never find." Then I realized she wanted me to come with

them.

What do I have to loose. "I'll come with you." And with that I walked with

them. Not knowing what was going to happen.
