“I mean, who cares about stupid fossils?” Aubrey whined.

“Nobody’s making you take Geography,” I said, only half-listening. I could see him at the end of the hallway with some other guys from the football team.

“Yeah, but the alternative is History, and ugh,” she replied, her face contorted in disgust.

I sighed, “Then just deal with it.”

“Girls, why aren’t you in the gym?” Lucy asked sternly as she walked over, “Cheer practice is in five minutes.”

“Loosen up Luce. We’ll be there,” I replied, not looking at her as I continued to stare at him. He was about ten feet away by then, and his gaze met mine. I couldn’t help but hold my breath.

Aubrey chuckled, “Loose Luce.”

“Ha-ha,” Lucy replied sarcastically.

“That look in your eye can only mean one thing, Sparks,” Aubrey said, as she followed my gaze, “And fifty points for Aubrey Tate!”

He walked over, not breaking his gaze from mine; I felt a small smile form on my lips.

“Hey Sandy,” Aubrey said.

“Hey Aubrey,” he said, not even looking over at her.

“Ugh,” Lucy said.

“Hi,” I murmured as he leaned down and placed his lips firmly on mine. I felt my insides quiver as we made out; I felt like I was going to burst from the pleasure his kiss gave me, as he pressed me into the locker.

He pulled back with a breath and grinned, “Hi Sarah,” he said softly as he brushed my bangs off my eyes.

I stared at him dreamily, “Hey Sandy.”

“So, seven-thirty?” he asked.

“Yeah,” I replied with a nod. My ever-present smile was fixed in its place.

He turned to Aubrey and Lucy, “Girls,” he said with a nod.

“What? You’re not going to kiss me too?” Aubrey asked joking.

He rolled his eyes and looked back at me, “See you later,” he said with a wink as he walked backwards.

“Bye,” I grinned as I floated on cloud nine.

“I LOVE YOU, SARAH PARKS!” he said aloud for everyone to hear when he was a fair distance, as he continued to walk backwards, still looking at me. A teacher poked her head out of her classroom and glared at him, “Mr. Harrison, do you mind?”

I watched him ignore her as he walked off to football practice. I turned back to Lucy and Aubrey.

“Gosh, I’ve never been more jealous of anyone,” Aubrey said.

Lucy rolled her eyes, “It’s not that big a deal,” she said with a shrug.

Aubrey snorted, “When you start dating a hot football player who’s also a senior, you let me know if it still isn’t a big deal.”

“So, what’s happening at seven-thirty?” Lucy asked.

I smiled, “It’s date night.”
