A/N: Hello everyone, you have no idea how sorry I am! It's been so long since I've last updated I'm so ashamed.  I've banged out the end of this last chapter just for you guys though, so I hope it's been worth the ridiculous wait! Enjoy!

Chapter 5: Julia

I didn't see much of John over the few days after out city outing. I was still doing a lot of acclimating to the time zone, so I spent a considerable amount of my time sleeping the day away (much of which can be said the same for John actually). But he seemed to be preoccupied enough with his band, preparing for the fete which was to come the following month. The next time we ended up seeing each other however, was, in a way, by accident.

I was in my room, really and truly trying to unpack my suitcase. I'd been living out of the thing for a few days after I arrived, too lazy to actually unpack anything. Finally Anne told me enough was enough and that I needed to get it done. With nothing else to do I couldn't help but begrudgingly agree with her, so I took to my room, opening up the vaulted window to let a breeze in and turning on a record. With "Lucille" coming out of the speaker I sighed, hesitating a moment before beginning to sort through what seemed to be my entire closet from home packed into one case.

Thankfully for me, my arduous task didn't last long, not as long as John was concerned. I hadn't been at it for more than 5 minutes when I heard him calling, "Oi! Lizzy!"

Puzzled, I looked dumbly around my room for a moment, almost as if he had materialized next to me without my realizing. But then I realized it must have come from the open window, so, gladly abandoning my task at hand, I crossed the room and pushed back the lacy curtains to see John looking back at me. It was almost like a mirror image, him looking out his window at me and me the same to him, the small space between the two houses the only thing separating us.

"John?" I called. "Is that your room right there?"

He looked back behind him, as if he just realized there was something there, then turned back and in a tone mocking mine, "Ya, I'd say that's where I am. So we're across from each other eh?”

"I suppose so," I answered. It hadn't occurred to me that that was where John's room was; I hadn't really thought about it.

"Well if I can see in your window you better not let me catch you doin' anything you shouldn't, got that?" John said in a joking voice, although I couldn't help but feel there was a slight note of seriousness in his voice.

Blushing I said back, "Oh don't worry about me. I'll be alright." At that point I got a good look at John and realized something I hadn't originally. "John, you're wearing your glasses."

It was just an observation, but he acted as if I had pointed out some egregious fault, for he snatched them off his face and tossed them behind him, muttering, "Yeah so?"

"Nothing!" I responded, not meaning it offensively as he'd obviously taken it. "I just meant you don't wear them often, I was surprised. They look...nice." I was hesitant to give him the compliment, I was afraid of him thinking I was trying to flirt.

To my relief he let loose a small smile and changed the subject. "Eh listen, I'm going to visit my mum in a bit, she’s gonna help me more with my guitar. I was wondering if you maybe wanted to meet her." When I didn't respond right away he added quickly, "She makes a much better first impression than Mimi I can tell you that."
