Chapter 31

Nakaupo lang ako dito sa kama. Si Abie, nakaupo sa dulo. Nakatingin siya sa window. Habang si Luciana, nasa kama niya. Nagbabasa siya ng libro. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

“Paborito mo pala yan, Lucy?” –Abie

Abie decided na ‘Lucy’ ang itatawag niya kay Luciana kasi daw ang haba ng name niya. Okay lang naman kay Luciana kaya yan.

“Yes. Actually, I read it more than fifty times a year.” Luciana smiled.

Wow. Bookworm pala siya.

“What other books do you read?” tanong ko.

May nilabas siya sa ilalim ng kama niya. A box full of books. :D

“Wow. Ang dami mo palang books!” --Abie

Romeo and Juliet. Little Women. Emma. Sense and Sensibility. Mansfield Park. Persuasion. AND SOOOOO MUCH MORE. Gosh. Di ko napansin, may nilabas pa siyang dalawang boxes! Wow. Bookworm talaga siya. And puro classics ang binabasa niya. Mostly Shakesphere’s and Jane Austen’s novels. Paano niya to nakuluha?

“You probably are wondering how I got these. I bought these books when I was still free.” Luciana smiled once again.

 “Mind if I borrow one?” tanong ko. Gusto ko na din magbasa eh. ^__^V Hobby ko din. :>

“Sure.” Sabi niya.

Kinuha ko yung book ng Romeo And Juliet. Gosh. Ito ang book na pinilit samin na basahin nung high school pa ako. Pinagpuyatan ko nga yun para magawa ang report ko noon eh. :))

I scanned through the pages. Ito ata ang original version. Kasi diba merong mga ganito na pinaikli lang or maybe yung mga summary lang yung nakalagay? Well this is complete. Meron pa ngang summary sa una eh.

“That’s one of the first published books of Romeo and Juliet. It’s almost the original.” Sabi ni Luciana.

“Eh paano mo to nabili?” –Abie

“I don’t know either. It’s been with me since I was born. It has became one of my favorite classics.” –Luciana

“Oh. I see.” –Abie

“How come you were able to take these here inside with you?” tanong ko.

She chuckled. “I don’t know the whole story about that matter, but all I know is that these were sent here either by my father or by a friend of mine.” –Luciana

Tiningnan ko yung summary. Di ko pa binabasa. Kasi… ewan. Feeling ko na ayaw ko munang basahin. Bakit pa kasi ito ang pinili ko. -.-

“If you want, it’s yours.” Luciana smiled at me. Again. Buti di siya napapagod ngumiti.

“This? But it’s yours. It must be expensive nowadays.” –ako

“It’s fine. I have plenty of other books.”

“Thanks.” Ngiti ko sa kanya.

Tinanggap ko na lang kasi diba parang ang rude kung tinanggihan ko pa, lalo na isa tong valued treasure sa panahon na to. It’s expensive. It’s old, probably from the 17th or 18th century.

“Wooooooow! May book oh!” sabi ni Abie. Nginitian ko lang siya. Nahahawa na ako kay Luciana sa pagiging-palangiti niya. :))

Binasa ko muna ang summary nung book. Tinatamad kasi ako na basahin from the first chapter so dito na lang. :))

~In the streets of Verona another brawl breaks out between the servants of the feuding noble families of Capulet and Montague. Benvolio, a Montague, tries to stop the fighting, but is himself embroiled when the rash Capulet, Tybalt, arrives on the scene. After citizens outraged by the constant violence beat back the warring factions, Prince Escalus, the ruler of Verona, attempts to prevent any further conflicts between the families by decreeing death for any individual who disturbs the peace in the future.

Romeo, the son of Montague, runs into his cousin Benvolio, who had earlier seen Romeo moping in a grove of sycamores. After some prodding by Benvolio, Romeo confides that he is in love with Rosaline, a woman who does not return his affections. Benvolio counsels him to forget this woman and find another, more beautiful one, but Romeo remains despondent.~

“Jean.”

Tumigil ako sa pagbabasa kasi may biglang dumating at tinawag ang pangalan ko. Napatingin ako sa kanya..

“Mason?”

Napatingin sa direction ko si Abie. Nasa medyo dulo kasi siya ng kwarto.. nagbabasa siya ng libro. Emma ata ang name ng binabasa niya.

Napansin ko ang reaction ni Luciana. Kay Mason lang kasi siya nakatingin.

I wouldn’t be surprised on the fact that she’s looking at who has came. Ang kinagugulat ko lang..

Merong something sa tingin niya kay Mason.

Love?

Hatred?

I don’t know. :|

Basta meron. At gusto kong malaman kung ano yun.

Alam ko dapat ang tagal nang na-post ng chapter na to. Eh kaso, ang daming reports, projects, homeworks, chores. Alam niyo naman ang school life, diba?

And alam ko din na dapat nung Thursday pa to naipost. Umalis kasi kami biglaan. Waaaah Sorry talaga. >.<
