Chapter Three: Fall Of A Legend

They held the others gaze for what felt like a lifetime, Mylar couldn't help but feel responsible for Taylor's current condition. "If only I had been the one to protect them, none of this would have ever happened" thought Mylar his mood solemn enough already but hidden well with his smile.

Taylor stepped inside and closed the door then proceeded to turn on the small oil lamp he had tucked away in the corner, something he rarely felt the need to use. Mylar extinguished his flame and sat patiently, still keeping eye contact until such a time his king wanted to speak. After several moments he finally did, and what he said didn't surprise him.

"You've got some fucking nerve showing your face here, Mylar" said Taylor his eyes reflecting the rage that shook his voice.

"Watch your tone boy, I can still beat seven bells of shit out of you" said Mylar, he hadn't meant to snap but he never liked people swearing at him.

"My tone? Because of your war my family is dead!" He shouted. The rest of his body had begun to gradually shake and his eyes had started to water a little.

"Yes and two good men died protecting them, Farn and Michal gave their lives for three people they hardly knew, you disrespect their memories by not recognising that" he said.

"Its forever on my mind, they never should have been caught up in it. I should've been the one to take them to safety, I don't even understand how Caius even caught them" he said, it was the first time in six months that it had even crossed his mind of how Caius found them.

"You were needed in the battle and they understood the risk protecting them carried. But as for how they were caught, we do have a theory" said Mylar, as he looked at Taylor, with a slight apprehension in his eyes.

"What theory exactly?" asked Taylor his intrigue peaked as he closed the door to the hut attempting to make as little noise as possible.

"I hate to even say it, but we think that they may have captured Ewilinia and tortured her for information. Which would explain how they were able to find Lavernock, she went looking for Caius shortly after we left for Glyde Court and hasn't been seen since" he said.

"Fuck. Do you think she's still alive?" he asked.

"I certainly hope not, if she is they'll be treating her like shit off the bottom of a shoe. I'd be surprised if she managed to make it this long" he said running a hand through his hair.

"Hopefully she is okay. So how exactly did you find me I've been keeping a pretty low profile until tonight? Also I'm surprised it's not Tobias sat in front of me instead of you, I suppose he's too busy playing general" he said a hint of anger in his words.

"Well when you drop a member of the second most powerful drug cartel in Rocinha off the most infamous landmark in all of Brazil, someone is bound to see it. Because he's dead" said Mylar and that's when his face dropped and not even a glint of joy remained in his eyes as it usually did.

"What, but how? Asked Taylor who had begun to pace back and forth. His mind consumed with a variety of emotions, anger, confusion and sorrow.

"It happened two months ago" he said and then he told the tale of the fall of the legendary Tobias Hawthorne.
