There was a stunned silence.
“Albus,” Lily began. They all knew how much Dumbledore loved Bella, and hardly a day went by when he didn’t spend at least an hour watching over her and just chatting.
Dumbledore blinked and looked sad for a minute, then shook it away. “Bella needs to be looked after.”
Bella stuck out her tongue. “Don’t want to.”
Remus frowned. “Dumbledore, wouldn’t Bella be safer-”
Dumbledore shook his head. “I have deliberated on this and I believe you are the best choice.”
“But…”
Dumbledore looked down at them through his glasses. “Will you take Bella?”
The group looked at each other and a silent agreement went round the table.
“We’ll take her.”
