Chapter One: First Strike

They came for me last night, it was inevitable but I never expected them to act so soon.

If only they'd waited, it may have turned out in their favor, but they were rash. They came after me with nothing more than dogs.

Oh that's right, I can't just keep calling them dogs. Late last night a pack of hellhounds broke into my house. A nasty mix of demon and werewolf, these hybrids have been popping up more and more lately, almost as if our kingdom is evolving. I find their existence to be nothing more than a nuisance. They are below all of you, less human than the nastiest of vampires. They are but one of the many reasons I have come forward.

Sadly I didn't make it out unscathed. The hellhounds destroyed most of my research, though I've read through my papers enough times that I have most of it memorized.

Thankfully an old friend of mine from the light council is letting me stay with her, a like-minded young woman with enough influence to keep my scribbles out of her council’s chambers.
