Chapter 3

Kuya Boaz once told me that I should learn when to shut up. Ang daldal ko raw kasi masyado. He said that there are times that I can become way too talkative to the point of annoyance.

Lagi niyang sinasabi na 'yung utak ko raw at bibig, sabay na gumagalaw. Kasi kung ano 'yung naiisip ko, 'yun din ang sinasabi ko.

I remember, there's this one particular trip na kami ang magkatabi tapos hindi ako makatulog so I talked to him nonstop. He said he wanted to sleep so he can rest a little. So siyempre, I lectured him on how he would always remind me na 'wag akong matutulog sa biyahe para alam ko kung saan kami papunta. Tapos siya 'tong unang lulunok sa sinabi niya.

Boy, I must have hit a nerve or two when he snapped and told me, "It must be tiring to have a mouth like yours."

Na-awardan (inaway) ako nang walang sa oras kaya shut up ang ganda ko. I spent the rest of the ride staying quiet and it drove me to death. It felt suffocating. Wala akong makausap. Everyone was sleeping.

Since then, I have concluded that silence is not my cup of tea. It wasn't for me. It doesn't suit me and I don't like it.

This time, that conclusion felt so real.

Screw shutting up.

A few minutes ago, may nalalaman pa akong sense of normalcy. I would eventually fold, anyway.

"Can we please use my phone?" I asked. Tinuro ko ang phone ko na hawak ni G. "Memorabilia," I added, grinning like the crazy girl that I am. "Sayang naman, no. I need to have a copy. Minsan lang 'to kaya dapat sulitin ko na," I said while fixing my hair.

G laughed at me, as if he's so amused with what he's hearing and seeing.

I can't blame him, though. I'm charming.

We formed ourselves in a group so the staff can take a picture of us together.

"Oh, ayan ha. Tinutulungan na kitang makasilay. May kapalit 'to, pero mamaya na tayo mag-abutan ng bayad," G joked as he neared me.

I couldn't help but blush at what he said.

But I was still considerate enough. Hindi ako tumabi kay Japheth because I might scare the guy. Baka ma-trauma siya sa'kin or something.

I stood beside G, so we're like: Me, G, James, Cy, and Japheth (left to right respectively).

So near yet so far ang peg ko, pero pwede na. Picture with these dashing boys is like a dream come true na, ha. Alangan namang mag-inarte pa ako.

"Say cheese," said the staff.

"Cheese!" I beamed. Ako lang yata ang nagsalita.

To be honest, cheese is such a mediocre thing to say during picture-taking. I would have said guacamole, pero I figured baka masyado na akong bida-bida, baka mawalan na ng trabaho si Jollibee.

I heard G laugh after our photo was taken. "Wow, you're funny!" he commented.

I jokingly gave him my hand. "It's always a pleasure to meet a fan." Surprisingly, inabot niya naman ang kamay ko. I mean, I was just kidding pero . . . we did a handshake anyway.

Binigay ng staff ang cellphone ko. I thanked him and immediately checked the photo. "Aww. Hindi naman nakangiti si Japh," I said. I know I was being a big baby, all sulky and pouty pero kasi naman . . .

Guian eyed me. "We haven't had a proper introduction, right?" he asked. Goodness, this boy is really the coolest. He's freaking friendly! I think someone just dethroned me from being the recipient of the congeniality award. And I'm not even complaining!
