Hello. This chapter is probably filled with errors. I wrote it several weeks ago and haven't edited much. Please point out any flaws you come across. (: Thanks as always for reading.

Chapter Twenty-Nine~ Lupe [Nelson]

It was sometime around dinner, well 9:30 which was my dinner time anyway, the four of us were chilling around my living room. Cheyda and Jacobi were all but snuggled up on the worn leather loveseat, Zen was imitating a pouty statue in the recliner to the left of them, and I was on the floor. I was either rocking back and forth with arms hugged around my legs or lying back with my feet up on the loveseat in between Cheyda and Jacobi's knees.

Currently I had my hands thrown behind my head and bare feet up on fake leather. I lost track of my flip-flops a few hours ago. I glanced at my dirty toes and wiggled them, tapping Jacobi and Cheyda's legs a few times in the process. Jacobi glanced down and shook his leg back and forth, probably trying to move my foot away. I retaliated by crossing my left leg over the right and let my right foot settle onto his huge, gigantic knee. "Alright quit." He brushed my legs off. My feet dropped to the carpet with a muted thud. I took to crossing one leg over the other and bobbing my foot up and down. Earlier Zen had explained in a rather robotic voice how his brother had been taken and he was 85% sure it was Tyson who had did it. Besides Jacobi's command telling me to quit, it had been silent for probably over ten minutes now. I couldn't stand it anymore.

I twisted my head to the right, focusing on Zen. "Sooo...My brother... hit you with a lamp?"

He had his head propped up by one arm, looking like an Asian version of the Thinker, but without the same leg stance. His eyes met mine for a moment before rolling up to the ceiling and off into space. "Yes."

"Before he took off with your brother?"

"Yes."

An image of an MMA brawl flashed through my head. I saw Tyson standing over Zen with a broken table lamp, pumping it in victory while Zen was out cold with numbers floating over his head. "I'm so-orry." I sat up quick. Both my hands slapped my mouth. I tried really, really hard not to laugh.

Zen said nothing. He didn't glance at me. Or do anything. Except breathe very, very slowly.

"Did you see little birds when you got KO'd or was it a bunch of math equations flying over your head?" I tried to suppress half a laugh but it slipped out anyways. I threw out a fake cough to cover it. I glanced around at the others. I don't think anyone bought it.

Cheyda leaned forward, her hands wrapped tight around her ribs. She looked down at me with a stern look. A strand of dark auburn hair fell from her messy bun. She tucked it behind her ear while giving me a stern tone. "Enough with the questions, Lupe. We've already been over this."

"I'm just trying to get the conversation going again." I looked over at Zen. He looked less lifeless than usual. His features were bent in a slight frown that took up his whole face. He seemed more human that way. I rested my hand on my chin and pointed at him. "That's a good look on you Zen, you look like an actual person. You should try it out more often." I wriggled my butt on the floor, moving myself towards him. I slapped my hand on his knee a few times and let my hand stay there while I beamed at him. He gave me a very blank stare and I made a note to ask Cheyda about it later. Was he angry, sad, uncaring? I couldn't tell. I had a hard enough time trying to figure out people, but he was on a whole other level.

Jacobi reached over and slapped my hand away from Zen. "Knock it off."

I threw my hands in the air before planting them on my hips. The nerve of that guy. "I'm trying to encourage my good Elemental buddy to be less 'domo arigato Mr. Roboto', and be more of an actual people human guy. What's your deal?"
