Mr. Matthew and his class gathered in the school library. They couldn't go into their regular class room until the fire damage was replaced and they got a new, openable door.
"Riley, Farkle, your turn to present your project." Mr. Matthew says.
They got up and moved to the front. They propped their poster against some book and began to talk.
"We did our project on Steve Jobs." Riley said.
"He invented Apple, and even though he is gone, they still make Apple products. Like our phone." Farkle added.
The pair pulled out their phones.
"iPhone 5s" Riley said.
"iPhone 6" Farkle said.
"4" someone called out.
"6+" said another.
"Excellent, you may sit down know." Mr. Matthew said.
"Thank you, I am Farkle!"
Riley and Farkle sat down and Mr. Matthews called up Maya and Lucas.
"We researched Walter E. Disney." Lucas stated.
"When Walt first started out, he had a character named Oswald. He worked for Universal at the time and when he left, he couldn't take Oswald with him." Maya said.
"After that Walt created Mickey Mouse. And if you look at the two characters, they are pretty similar. Even though Oswald was 'gone', he was not forgotten. Oswald left a legacy, so did Mickey, and so did Walt." Lucas added.
"Great job. You may sit." Mr. Matthews said.
A couple more students presented their projects and then the bell rang. The students started to file out of the library.
"Miss. Hart? Come here." The teacher said.
"Yes, Matthews?" Maya asked.
"Do you remember what the extra credit was?"
"Yes, right how your person's story relates to you..."
"Did you do it?"
"Nope."
"Maya? I know you thought about it." The teacher protested.
"Maybe...fine. Walt lost Oswald, I lost my dad. Walt got Mickey, I got Lucas. The world has a way of evening out."
"Maya, why did you get a sad expression when I said that it is the last year?"
"Your lessons really help me. And you'd be another person who left."
"Maya, your still friends with Riley, you still be over. You will still get my lessons. And who knows? I've followed you guys from 7th to 12th grade, I could be your college professor." Mr. Matthews said.
They shared a laugh and Maya went to join her friends at the locker.
"So, are you coming to my house to get ready?" Riley asked Maya.
"Yeah" Maya answered.
"I'll pick you up there, say, 6:30?" Lucas asked.
"6:45" Maya said.
"And if you don't mind, can I catch a ride?" Riley said.
"Me too?" Farkle add.
"Sure" Lucas said.
The group of 4 made their way out of the school and to the subway. All of them excited for the night to come.
