Chapter 11 The ambush

It is still unclear why the neighbourhood had changed so much as they went into groups and promised to contact each other on the walkie-talkies.But Eddie had this feeling that something isn't right about the neighbourhood.He is unsure what it is, but something about the neighbourhood felt different than before they left.Why is everything different what happened and where are the other neighbors? It honestly concerned the mailman, seeing how the pathway to the neighbourhood has changed. Does that mean the other neighbours had changed as well?

As the strange fog blanket at the entire neighbourhood and clean the pathway. Not to mention this very strange vegetation it doesn't seem natural at all. Including these new bogs of water. Why did the neighbourhood change like this? What happened? It didn't make any sense whatsoever to what caused this situation.There is something off about this situation as this is honestly not what the mailman had expected whatsoever.

It was supposed to be welcoming, but it was the exact opposite of that. Why did they have to leave if they stay then maybe things wouldn't have ended up like this. All because they had to go off and do somethings that couldn't be explained at least not at the moment.The neighbourhood just felt different from before now and it didn't feel familiar anymore.

("Why did everything change?I honestly didn't expect this to happen at all. What happened to the neighborhood?")

There is a touch on Eddie shoulders as the mailman turned around to see Frank there as he knew that he was getting stressed out again. It couldn't be helped honestly considering how everything in the neighbourhood had changed even the pathway is different.

" Eddie, I know somethings bothering you. It's the new appearance of the neighborhood, isn't it?"

" You're right about that Frank. I don't understand what happened. Everything is different now and this is just a pathway. What happened to the neighbourhood and the other neighbours?"

That is a valid concern, but stressing out over it isn't going to get any answers to figure out what is going on, unaware that they were being followed by something. Watching them like a predator watching its prey.

" There's also the fact that I feel like we are being watched."

" Don't worry about it, Eddie. I'm pretty sure it's just your paranoia getting the better of you."

" I suppose you're right about that Frank."

Continuing, on trying to find the neighbourhood the thing continue to watch them waiting for the perfect opportunity to attack. When they stopped to see the strange, new vegetation and scenery, they answered the walkie-talkies.Then the thing waited long enough and headed over for an attack, but being quiet to make sure not to get any attention.

" I've contacted the others on where we are hopefully they'll get here soon."

" Do you hear that Frank?"

There is a sound as there was something moving in the new vegetation, something unusual but very much familiar. It didn't take a genius for Frank to realize that they were being watched the whole time. But before they could even escape the thing that was watching them soon left and attack. The thing soon headed towards Frank, but before anything happened, there was a biting sound.

Frank open his eyes to see that he wasn't bitten, but he looked to see Eddie.The mailman had used himself as a shield as the thing that attacked them bit down on him as the teeth went through the skin, causing the infection to spread to the mailman.

" Eddie!!!!"

Frank used his flashlight to make the thing stop biting the mailman as something about the attacker. Seemed very familiar. But he didn't waste any time with that as he headed over to Eddie as the bite mark he had didn't seem fatal, but it was different.

" Eddie is everything alright?"

" I don't feel so good Frank...."

The mailman soon collapsed onto the ground, as he felt very exhausted for some strange reason as it didn't make any sense, but he was there on the ground unconscious.When Frank soon went down to Eddie's level. He saw that the mailman was sweating. Concern overwhelmed Frank, as he was very worried for him. Whatever bit him had something, but he doesn't know what it is, unfortunately.

He contacted the others informing them what had happened as there was nothing left to do but to wait. His thoughts have ever came back to the thing that attacked them. It was familiar, but he doesn't understand why, but the sound the thing made he recognized the voice.

(" I know I've heard that voice before. But where it doesn't make any sense. I hope the others get here soon. I'm worried about what will happen to Eddie.")

After a long while of reading, everybody came over very quickly as Frank explained what had happened, including the ambush. It was very concerning to say the least, while looking at the mailman, it was agreed to bring him back to the temporary base of operations finding the neighbourhood.

The predator that had attacked them sounded familiar at least that's what Frank said. But why did it attack and who was it that attacked them? It just didn't make any sense whatsoever as to why all of this happened. After a while of thinking back at the base of operation, something clicked into Frank. He knows why the thing that attacked him sounded familiar.

It was one of the other neighbors. But why did their fellow neighbours attack them?It didn't make any sense whatsoever. because it wasn't like any of the neighbours to harm each other they would never do that.

("I don't understand. Why would the other neighbours attack us? They would never do any of that. What exactly has happened here.")

It is very strange to say the least as the neighbourhood had changed, including the neighbours as well so much that they would attack a fellow neighbour. It was preposterous, but it made the most sense. As the main question is what will happen to Eddie now that he was bitten. Will he be fine? That was the main concern most of all.
