Naima and I were taking a walk in the park. It was really sunny outside. However, there was a fog as if a cloud had landed just around the park. I couldn’t see anything except the path that we were walking on. It was really strange.

Naima held my hand as we just enjoyed the nature around us. She was eating an ice cream cone quietly as my mind wandered on different random things. Everything was peaceful.

“Chris,” someone called from behind me.

That voice sounded familiar…a little too familiar.

It sounded like Audri…but with any voice that calls me, I hope for it to be Audri. I turned around and my heart completely stopped. I couldn’t breathe and had mixed feelings on seeing the person in front of me. I just couldn’t believe my eyes…it was…it WAS Audri.

“Hey Chris,” she said with her angelic voice and beautiful smile.

I stood there motionless not moving while Naima just stared at her and ate her ice cream.

“Audri…is that really you?” I finally choked out.

She was standing a few feet away, “Yes babe, it’s me.”

I wanted to move, but I wasn’t sure if this was a dream or not. I was scared.

“Come give me a hug. Don’t act like you don’t know me,” she said and held out her arms.

At that point I didn’t care if I was hallucinating or not, I just wanted another chance to hold her, so I ran over to hug her and couldn’t believe what was really happening, “Audri….”

That was all I could get out.

“Chris,” she replied.

“I never thought I would see you again. I’ve missed you so much,” tears rolled down my eyes when I realized I was REALLY hugging her.

She held on to me tight, and I could smell her perfume that was the scent of warm vanilla. I loved that smell and missed it sooo much. I couldn’t help it, so I started crying softly on her shoulder. I never thought in a million years I would be able to hold her again.

“I’ve missed you too,” she whispered in my ear before letting go, “You haven’t changed a bit.”

“Neither have you,” I looked at her up and down grasping her hands, “Still the same beautiful Audri.”

She smiled her gorgeous smile and I felt like I was on top of the world.

“I’d like for you to finally meet someone,” she took the hand of the little boy who was hiding behind her and brought him to the front, “Chris, this is Maurice.”

I held my hand over my mouth in disbelief that I was finally getting the chance to meet the son I never got the chance to know.  “Maurice…my…my son?”

I didn’t think twice, I just picked him up and hugged him. He had to be around seven or eight since Naima was already five.

“Hey Maurice,” I said before giving him another squeeze. “Do you know who I am?”

“Yes, Daddy,” he said before giggling which made me burst into tears from happiness like a little girl.

While I had him in my arms, I noticed that Naima was already in Audri’s arms and they were reuniting. I could tell she was happy to finally meet her mom.

This was the most perfect moment, and it’s all I’ve ever asked for. I’d rather have my family than any kind of music career. This was the true happiness I had been searching for.
