I had this dream, you see, on a hot summer day
Of a little farm that soaks in Autumn’s gold.
The golden sun shines through golden leaves,
On golden fields the wind blows so sweet!
By the water tank there’s a golden cow
Lie lazily on the golden straws.
A golden cricket plays his violin
And the golden bird dances to the melody.
Morning light floods through the window
Drowning my shirt in a sea of gold.
Snoring like a pig in the middle of day,
The honeyed air my private lullaby.
From the chimney of little golden cottage
Smoke rises and carries the smell of pie!
It dances through space like a child’s laughter
And melts the hearts of the strongest of men.
I had this dream, you see, on a hot summer day
One of those pretty dreams that always remain a dream.
