"Time." A girl said as they sailed through the waters

"3:00" Another Responded as she looked over the horizon, the sun was still down as they sailed towards their objective

"Why did the admiralty send us to destroy that convoy? Can't they just use planes, I'm too tired for this" Another chimed in

"Those were the orders and we will do what is expected of us, Furutaka" The girl who was clearly in command said

"I know you also would rather be on the frontline, Kako" Furutaka said to her sister

"Let's just get to it" Yukikaze said as she sailed at the front "We should be getting close" She said as the distance between the ships opened

"Get back in position Yukikaze, the convoy is still protected by enemy destroyers, and even the transports may be armed" Kako said sternly as the destroyer slowed down

"Then why did they send me with you?!" She asked in an agitated tone

"Because submarines still exist and Heavy Cruisers aren't the best for such a job" Kako explained quickly and to the point

"So I am just an Escort?" Yukikaze asked while Kako shook her head

"No, you are still part of the attack, but if you attack alone you will be sunk" Kako explained as the Destroyer groaned

"I bet they wouldn't even be able to hit us, it's still dark and with their main forces in the Atlantic, there shouldn't be much with which we will have problems" Furutaka said, reminding the other two she was also with them

"..." The two other ships were quiet for a while due to different reasons, Yukikaze didn't have much to say, and Kako was in deep thought until she finally spoke

"Something isn't right..." She said as the two others turned to face her

"What do you mean?" Furutaka asked as she looked around "Did you see something?"

Kako sighed as she shook her head "That's the problem, we should have long passed the convoy, even sailed through it" She explained

"If we did that I would have already seen them, are you sure?" Yukikaze asked

"Yes... unless the convoy was slower than expect-" She stopped herself as they all heard the faint sounds of Propellers

"Oh, maybe they did send planes after them" Furutaka said enthusiastically while the other two knew what was up

"Those aren't our planes..." Yukikaze said as she began scanning the dark sky "Maybe they don't kno-" Just then the first plane became visible as it drooped flares, a couple of hundred yards too far, but it still told the task force they were found out

"W-what do we do?" Furutaka asked as she looked at her sister

"Contact the admiralty... and Full speed ahead, we will find that convoy!" She said as the other two nodded, but before they could start moving, Kako was sprayed by water as a column of it erupted next to her
