hi how was the sun today.
did you ask it what it was like to glow
(did you have to?)
did the ravens caw speak to you like a goddess'
soft voice,
or was it gruff, slicing the air with a dulled ax?
did the mourning doves tell you how to love
and how to live without?
did the fluffy haired dog look you in the eyes
and speak slowly words of the snow rabbit?
did you talk to horse today? the
old sorrel mare, turned out to pasture,
and did she appear in your dreams
to whisper wisdom in your ear
in a language that no longer graces the earth?
has her filly taught you how to be happy, yet?
how to appreciate earthly wonders as the
dogs howl and the flowers die and there
are no more stingers for bees to weild?
the little roan pony knows much for her age.
did cat meet you at the bus stop,
purring the star's speech,
did you ignore her?
were the wolves mean, tearing flesh
fiber from fiber,
or did the sun bless them today?
