Hey hey hey, so here is chapter 9. As per usual, I'm not too sure how I feel about this, so please leave me some feedback.

Im not sure that this follows on very well from the last chapter, but it was too hard keeping Kara angry at Daryl, so yeah.

Also for those of you who might be confused, a katana is a samurai sword, and no, it has nothing to do with michonne.

Thank you all for being so patient. xxx

It’s worse than we could have imagined. The entire hospital is surrounded, absolutely riddled with walkers. The front entrance is clearly visible, but there’s no clear path to get there.

“We can’t go in there. It’s suicide, if this is how many there is on the outside...then I don’t want to know what’s waiting inside.”  T-Dog says.

He’s right, of course. But Lori’s going into labour and we didn’t just come all this way to give up. No way.

“Looks like the cure was just a rumour...” Maggie murmurs from beside me.

“You mean there’s no cure needle?” Charlotte asks. She’s been awfully quiet ever since we pulled in to a secluded park across the road. It must be all the walkers; they put her on edge, and for good reason.

“I don’t know honey, we’ll have to go in and find out I guess.” I tell her.

“Go in? Are you crazy?” T-Dog asks. He gives me a quick once over, considers who he’s talking to. “Wait; don’t answer that, of course you are.”

“Look, I know there are walkers everywhere but what else can we do? Lori is going into labour! She needs help, even if we can’t find a doctor at least there will be medical supplies.” I reason.

“Actually you might be wrong.” Glenn says. “When the infection broke out, a lot of people hit the hospitals first, took the supplies before they ran out.”

“He’s right,” Rick says, “When I woke up in the hospital the place was a mess, there’s a strong probability that this hospital will be the same.”

“But Dad, Kara’s right! Besides, what about mum?” Carl says desperately.

Rick bends down to get eye-level with Carl. “Look son, I know it’s scary, and I don’t like this anymore than you do, but your mum will just have to stay here and try and have the baby. If we go in there we’ll be overpowered.”

“But Dad! We –“

“No but’s Carl, it’s too dangerous.”

I can feel an argument crawling its way up my throat. I want to tell Rick to stop being so weak, that we’ve handled worse before, that we have to go inside. But I bite my tongue. It’s this kind of thinking that has Rick saying I’m reckless, dangerous for the group.  I feel torn. Torn between staying in the van where it’s at least partially safe or taking Lori into the hospital where we are going to be swarmed.

Unless...

“No, Rick, Listen. I-“

“Karolina, no. My word is final-“

“I’ll go alone.” I say. Rick opens his mouth, probably to continue arguing with me, but then he does a double take. Makes sure he’s heard correctly.

“What?”

“I’ll go in alone.” I repeat. “You guys can stay in the van, and I’ll go in and get what we need.” Sounds simple enough.
