Someone to Break down our Walls

20 3 2

Betrayal is the pain that we all fear

We cower in the corner,

And build up walls-

Walls that we want someone to break down.

Someone to knock on our door

And question us why it’s there.

That person asking us why,

What events had led to pulling ourselves away?

The domino effect of pain,

The loss of trust given to us by someone close.

Betrayal simmers within us,

It’s cold fire spreading in our heart

Protecting it, yet it locks the heart away.

Betrayal hides the heart from the world

Deepest fears locked into the confines of our heart,

Lighting ablaze our fears and making them reality

Cold fire that prevents us all from trust,

Abandoning the hope and the trust

That we depend on.

The heart is a fragile thing,

Hope, trust they keep us running

Love is something that requires trust.

But the lover can betray the loved,

Leaving one heartbroken and betrayed-

Crying alone lamenting the loss of trust,

What gave us happiness now gives us pain

And what gave us pain now keeps us running.

Walls are built surrounding our soul,

We all just want someone to knock them down,

And show that they care.
