Forgiveness

Forgive and forget,

That’s what I have been told

So I do-

I forget, time and time again,

But do I really ever forgive?

With each time that I forget,

A piece of my soul is torn off

Tear by tear I break my soul apart,

My heart

Slowly

Breaking.

I try to forget the past,

The future,

And the present.

And yet it never diminishes

The light never goes out,

It continues to cast its shadowing glow,

All around me, haunting me

With its taunting flicker-

Flickering with each moment

That my soul fights to remember

And my heart fights to forget.
