We reached the drawbridge, I turned to levi with a rueful smile.

"You sure you don't need me? Just say the word and i'll come with you." I took his hand in mine as I watched the gate open to the outside world.

"I'll see you soon, levi." He kissed the back of my hand and let me go.

Buttercup galloped off, I clutched the reigns and glanced back to see my Corporal standing at the bridge, watching me. I waved before continuing on my way.

After hours of horseback, constant stops to walk and a night of camp, the small ruins came into view. I guided the horse over quickly through the trees, avoiding the titans above that we're completely unaware of my presence.

The weathered, ivy ridden door creaked as I pushed it open.

"You came." An echoed voice called to me.

"You didn't give me much choice. Who are you?" The silhouette chuckled and began lighting candles at back wall of the building.

"Isn't it obvious who I am?" She questioned, turning to face me. I stared at the older woman who shared my face.

"What? What the fuck?!" She gave a sad smile as I stared, completely breathless as I couldn't complete a coherent sentence.

"I know you're confused, but I don't have much time. Follow me." I silently followed, my horse following behind us obediently.

I climbed onto the old roof and sat beside...myself as Buttercup laid down on the ground below.

"It's a beautiful sunset, isn't it?" I stared at her.

"You said so yourself, we don't have time. I have to know how to save my friends. Hells, humanity as a whole." I exclaimed. The old lady shook her head.

"Eldians. Not humanity. You see, this place is all just a country in the world. Marley keeps us trapped with the titans in hopes we will perish for the crimes our ancestors committed. But that information isnt why youre here." I looked at her. A million questions rattling around in my brain.

"I brought you here because... because I'm going to show you how to unlock your full and true potential. How I managed to give you visions, for example." I stared at her.

"Okay, all of this is too much. You gave me these visions?"

"Yes. Every vision youve had, every moment youve seen or heard something, i was there."

"Mike? You watched him die?"

"A hundred times over. No matter what happened, no matter what visions I gave you...he died every time and so did you."

"That's the other thing I don't get. How are we both here at the same time? How have you seen all of this and stayed?"

"The first time you died, it was protecting isobel and farlan. I was a kind of spirit and I found my way here where I became...whole again. But when I went back, you were there getting thrown from the titan and hitting your head. I was there watching everytime you died and then, without fail, id see it all over again. I couldnt stop time, i couldnt see time progress or speed it up. So here i am. 60 years old and ive finally gotten you to this point. Ive only had this conversation with you once before...this battle to come, it'll be the worst yet."

I just sat, head empty. What do I do with all of this? How the hell am I supposed to process anything?

"When I told levi I had to sacrifice myself...thats what's next, right?" She nodded with a sad smile.

"I have a plan. The self sacrifice? That was my guess before but I was wrong. Y/n. We need to come together. I've found my purpose. Once I die, my lifespan, my power will reach you."

"And if it doesn't?"

"Lets worry about that later. What we need to think of now is getting to shiganshina."

"So the other building you showed me was Erens basement?" She nodded.

"Yes. Though im certain you all probably thought of that already. So, this is enough bleakness for one night. Im sure you have other questions."

"...okay. So is there anything interesting that happened in one of these timelines?"

"Well...i mean jean and eren fucked in the barn but im pretty sure that happened in this timeline. Only...last time it was Mikasa that found them."

"Yikes. Did that make her back off any?"

"Youd think but...nevermind. that was bad enough to watch as it happened."

"Did you ever mess with a timeline? Just for entertainment?" The old lady smirked and stared ahead.

"I gave hange a love letter from Erwin. To see what would happen. Small things like that. I've mainly been making sure you don't get killed. Or pregnant. The amount of times I've had to dress as a soldier to send a cadet over to cock block is terrifying."

"...that was...youve been watching us every time?" She shook her head.

"God no. I stand outside the office door, listening like a civilised person. You really need to be quieter." My face burned hot as I stared at the old woman.

"Lets...move on. Erm...what is going to happen tomorrow?" She pulled a face before looking back to the sunset.

"Hellfire. You need to be ready. There will be so much loss, so much....well, everything. Its going to be a nightmare for everyone involved. But maybe, if tomorrow is saved, this loop I've been stuck in the last...fourty or so years will be over." I stared at her, only now realising just how hard all of this must've been.

"Did you ever just...quit?"

"I tried once. I tried to live life as a random civilian...that didn't last long when you wound up impaled on a tree branch. Then time rewound and I realized that I have to keep helping you."

"That's a hell of a burden."

"I was put here like this for a reason. You're going to do great things in the future, I can feel it. You just need extra help getting there...anyway, this has been nice but we should rest. We'll head to shiganshina in four hours. Get there just before the cavalry arrives."
