Chapter 35

I couldn't concentrate myself of what I was doing that day at work. I almost messed it up with the inks like three times and it was hard to pay attention to what the people were asking to me. I didn't say anything to Ed about the condom, partly because when  I left to go work, he was still sleeping and also because I didn't feel enough brave to talk about the whole situation.

I had only the slightest idea about what could have happened and it was Ed shagging Alice. My woman sense was telling me that though my mind was trying to fool me by thinking that they were just friends and he had that condom just in case he wanted to shag ME.

After several killer looks from my brother and me trying to be concentrated, the time to have lunch comes and I knew I would get thousand questions of my brother.

'What's wrong with you today Nikki?'

'Don't worry. Everything is okay.' I know he wouldn't believe me but I tried the best of my smiles.

'Tell me now.'

'I think Ed is shagging his ex-girlfriend.' My brother was completed wide-eyed. Before he could say anything I kept talking. ' It's quite long to explain but I've got some evidences. The last one is a condom, why would he need a condom if he's all the time in the studio? Plus I take the pill.'

'Yeah...I think that's a solid evidence.'

'I also saw that Alice called him last week. Coincidence? I think not.'

'But it is so unlike Ed...Are you completely sure? Have you talked to him yet?'

'No...I've thought about it though.'

'Well...you should Nikki. I'm still freaking out about it...' suddenly he gave me a tight hug without adding any other word. He knew I needed it.

As we still had time before our next clients, I started to organize part of the stuff of the studio while my brother was drawing the sketches. In that moment Alex, a good friend of Ed and also mine, came into the studio.

'Hey Nikki, what a surprise. What are you doing here?'

'I thought Ed told you, I work here now.' I said hugging him after.

'I knew that, but I bumped into him this morning and told me you guys were going to have like a picnic or something like that.'

'What? Did he tell you the place?'

'Yeah, he mentioned Vincent Square Garden. In fact, he recommended me to go someday.'

'Nikki, go there. I'm going to call Chris to  stand in for you. Don't worry.'

'I can give you a lift to that Garden, I'm still on the break time.'

It only took us 10 minutes to arrive there. I will always be eternally grateful to Alex for offered himself to take me there because it would have taken me like 30 minutes taking the tube.

'Would you please wait for me? It won't take me a long time. Just a few minutes.'

'Yeah of course. Good luck, Nikki.'

As soon as I stepped out of the car and start walking through that small park, I saw from the distance a ginger mane and pale skin. They were having a picnic and my heart stopped when I saw him kissing first her cheek and then her lips. I got closer. He kept kissing her, stroking her cheeks and my tears kept running down my face. Seconds later his eyes met mine and I can't describe his face in that moment. When I turned around to head for the car, I could see Ed standing up and I started walking faster to get as soon as possible into the car.

Only know you love her when you let her go
