In autumn's tender grasp, I stood, a bride,
With my dearest friend at my trembling side.
She urged me on, "Come, let's not be late!"
As we rushed to the church, oh, my wedding's fate.
As we drove, I reminisced, lost in the past,
Of a love too beautiful, too fleeting, too vast.
Our first meeting, a stumble, our worlds collide,
A chance encounter, fate could not hide.
"Our parents," I sighed, "tried to keep us apart,
But love bloomed strong, a flame in the heart.
Under trees, in the fall, we'd play and we'd dance,
In the crisp, golden leaves, we found our romance."
We arrived at the church, the wedding bells rang,
The moment was here, our vows to exchange.
With teary eyes locked, we spoke from the heart,
Promised to love, till death do us part.
But as we leaned in, about to share a kiss,
Reality shattered my dream, a cruel twist.
My groom, my love, had passed away,
Before our wedding on this fateful day.
Tears flowed freely as leaves fell from the trees,
A love that was never meant to be, brought to its knees.
In the autumn's embrace, my heart turned to stone,
A tragic tale of love, forever alone.
