"THE LONELY GUARDIAN"

I stood there in the shadows,
Watching over those I love.
A guardian, a protector,
A shining star above.

They needed me in their times of need,
A pillar of strength and hope.
A beacon in the darkness,
A lifeline they could rope.

I fought their battles with them,
And held their hands when they cried.
I stood by them when they were weak,
And never once did I hide.

But when it came my turn to need them,
No one was there to be found.
My calls for help went unanswered,
Echoes in an empty town.

I reached out for a hand to hold,
But found only cold, empty air.
I looked around for a friendly face,
But saw no one standing there.

The loneliness crept up on me,
A dark cloud in the sky.
I felt abandoned, left behind,
A forgotten soul, left to die.

I wondered what I had done wrong,
To be left so all alone.
I thought about all the times I'd been there,
And wondered where my friends had flown?

But then I realized something,
As I stood there in the night.
I didn't need their validation,
To make my world feel bright.

I stood there tall and proud,
A warrior on my own.

I didn't need their help or love,
To feel like I had grown.
I had been their guardian angel,
And now it was time to fly.
I didn't need their company,
To live or to thrive.

I smiled as I looked up above,
At the stars that shone so bright.
For I was my own protector now,
A star in my own right.

And though the loneliness still lingers,
A ghost that haunts my soul.
I know that I can face it down,
And come out feeling whole.

For I am the Lonely Guardian,
A force to be reckoned with.
And though I may stand alone at times,
I'll never lose my grip.

So I'll keep on shining,
A light in the darkness of life.
And though the road may be long and hard,
I'll never lose my fight.

For I was their when they needed me,
A hero in my own right.
And though no one may be there for me,
I'll keep shining, shining  bright.
