A/N: Shorter chapters from now because yeah, I kinda find it tiring making long chapters and yes, because I'm practically lazy I consider 2-3k words a lot. So every chapter from hereon out might only be a thousand or less. But then again, this is a story I'm making for the fun of it so why am I even bothering with informing you guys- ah screw it just enjoy it yeah?

Also, you guys do know that with shorter chapters comes more frequent updates?
Just kidding, it will still depend on how hard I procrastinate in making chapters. Until then, enjoy people!

Looking back to Hiyori's time as a junior high school student.

Hiyori sat at her desk, her textbooks and notebooks sprawled out in front of her. The soft hum of the library's fluorescent lights was the only sound that filled her ears. She chewed on the end of her pen, her brow furrowing in concentration as she worked through a particularly challenging math problem. Her long, silver hair framed her delicate face, partially obscuring her intense gaze.

It was the middle of the afternoon, and the library was sparsely populated. Most students were in their classrooms or at lunch, leaving Hiyori in her own little world of numbers and equations. She had always been diligent when it came to her studies, and she had a reputation for being one of the top students in her class.

Just as she was about to solve the math problem that had been giving her trouble, a familiar voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Hiyori," said the voice, low and gentle.

Hiyori looked up from her desk and saw Ayanokouji Kiyotaka standing beside her. He was tall and slim, and his glasses that Hiyori asked him to try for today perched on the bridge of his nose. Kiyotaka had a calm and composed demeanor that had always intrigued Hiyori.

"Kiyo!" she said, her voice softening as she greeted him. "What brings you to the library? I thought you were shopping with Matsuo-san?"

"We finished early." he replied, his lips curving into a faint smile. "I thought I'd see how you were doing."

Hiyori couldn't help but feel the warmth spread through her chest at his words. She and Kiyotaka had been dating for a few months now, and she cherished every moment they spent together. He wasn't the type to express his emotions openly, but she could tell that he cared for her deeply. She was quite assertive though, but nevermind that.

"I'm just working on some math problems," she explained, gesturing to her textbooks. "They're a bit challenging, but I'm making progress."

Kiyotaka took a seat beside her, his gaze fixed on the math problem she had been working on. "May I take a look?"

"Of course," Hiyori replied, sliding her notebook over to him.

Kiyotaka studied the problem for a moment, his expression thoughtful. Then, with a few quick calculations and explanations, he guided Hiyori through the solution. His explanations were clear and concise, making the complex problem seem almost trivial.

Hiyori watched in awe as he worked his magic with numbers. She had always been impressed by her Kiyo's intelligence, and this was just another example of his brilliance.

"Wow, Kiyo," she said when he had finished. "You make it look so easy."

He glanced at her, his dark eyes meeting hers. "It's all about understanding the principles," he said. "Once you grasp the concepts, the problems become manageable."

Hiyori nodded, feeling grateful for his help. "Thank you," she said. "You always come to my rescue."

Kiyotaka's smile deepened, and he reached out to gently pat her head. His fingers brushed against her silky hair, sending a shiver of warmth down her spine.

"You're welcome, Hiyori," he said softly. "I'll always be here to help you."

Hiyori closed her eyes for a moment, savoring the sensation of his touch. It was a simple gesture, but it meant the world to her. She knew that he wasn't one to show affection openly, so these small moments were precious to her. Although she was going to try and slowly make him do these things more often until it becomes a habit.

As Kiyotaka withdrew his hand, Hiyori couldn't help but smile up at him, but she also felt a bit disappointed that the warmth disappeared. "You know," she said, "I think headpats from you might be my favorite thing in the world."

Kiyotaka raised an eyebrow, a faint hint of amusement in his eyes. "Is that so?"

Hiyori nodded, her cheeks tinged with a hint of pink. "Yes," she admitted. "They make me feel. . . safe and loved."

Kiyotaka's expression softened, and he reached out to pat her head once more. His touch was gentle and reassuring, just as it had always been.

"Hiyori," he said, his voice low, "you mean a lot to me. I may not always show it, but I care about you deeply."

Hiyori's heart skipped a beat at his words. She had always known that Kiyo cared for her, but hearing him say it out loud filled her with a warm sense of happiness.

"I care about you too, Kiyo," she replied, her voice filled with sincerity.

They sat together in the library, the world around them fading into the background as they shared a quiet moment of connection. It didn't matter that Kiyotaka wasn't one to shower her with grand gestures of affection. His presence, his support, and his headpats were enough to make her feel loved and cherished.

As they continued to study together, Hiyori couldn't help but reflect on how lucky she was to have Kiyotaka in her life. He may not always express his emotions in the most common ways, but his actions spoke volumes. And every time he reached out to pat her head, it was a reminder of the love and care that bound them together.

The library's quiet ambiance enveloped them, and Hiyori felt a sense of contentment wash over her. She knew that with Kiyotaka by her side, she could conquer any challenge that came her way, whether it was a difficult math problem or the complexities of life itself.

And so, they sat together, two souls intertwined by the simple, beautiful act of headpats, finding solace in each other's presence and knowing that their love would always be a steady anchor in their lives.

And she would make sure no one else would bother them. Ever. No one would interrupt this love that they have. She knows that he feels the same way. But.

I will make sure that no one takes you away from me just as no one can take me away from you
