Chaeyoung POV

"I knew it would piss her off but I
didn't think she'd be that mad."

"She's got a reason to be angry,
Jeongyeon. Even though I was doing it to protect her, it still hurts to know you don't have a choice, especially when marriage is the topic. I get why she's upset, that's why I didn't argue."

"Sis, you're gonna be cut off for a long
time if you know what I mean."

"Hey, take your pussy out of the clouds. This is not the most important thing to be worrying about right now."

"Jeez, lighten up, SC."

"I can't talk to you right now. Later." I
say wallking away.

"Kay."

I walk upstairs, my thoughts running
through my head hundreds of miles
per hour. I walk into my room and
Mina lies in the bed. I run my fingers through my hair, sighing as I walk over to my side of the bed. I slide
in and automatically, I scoot over to
Mina. I rub her exposed shoulder.

"Minari?". She turns away from me and covers her shoulder. I accept it, sliding back to my side.

It's a few hours later, and it's maybe
five thirty-four in the evening. Jeongyeon apologized for how she acted earlier and left out a few minutes ago. Now it's just me. I sit out in the kitchen, scrolling and responding to emails and voicemails, writing small things down
every now and then. I make calls to my club and the base campus, and in my peripheral I see Mina walking down the stairs with her arms folded over her chest.

"You feeling okay?"

"A little better. I feel more refreshed
after my nap."

"Good. That's good."

"Yeah.". She walks over to my side and
looks over my shoulder. Then she sighs and walks to the front of me, resting on the counter beside my arm. "Listen. I-"

"It's fine. You had a right to be upset."

"But just let me talk. Yes... I was upset
and also yes, I had a right to be but I
know you were only doing it to protect me. Me and the baby. You had good intentions hiding it from me, but it still upsets me just knowing about it."

"I know it does. I know you want what
every other person has. Developing
love over the years and getting
engaged, then plan the wedding out
and make things perfect.. I know. I
know getting married for the first time only happens once and I know that you want it to be perfect, but you have to understand, we've planned this marriage for months. Almost every ally of ours will be there. Everyone knows that it's happening soon, and I can't just.. postpone it for another couple years, I'm sorry. It's just too risky." She sighs with a sad face. "I guess I can learn to understand. I can't get everything I want. I have to accept this new reality for the sake of my family and the safety of my child."

I sigh, running my hand through my
hair, thinking as she walks past me to
the living room. I pull out my phone,
hesitating at first, then I dial Dahyun's
number. I walk off casually as he picks up.

"Chaeyoung, my girl. Something up?"

"I need you to... call off the wedding." I
say whispering.

"Do what!? Are you crazy, girl!?"

"I know Dahyun, I know but.. I'm..
she... can you just do it? For me?"

"To hell with that Chae, you know
we can't call it off. We had everything
planned! Everyone RSVP'd and
everyone's calling out of their positions just to be there."
