PT.1 Discovery
I appeared in the headmaster's office.
"Uncle! I am sorry to bother you but, something urgent has come up and I've been permitted to go to the North diamond mine."
"Who gave you permission?"
"God or, rather, his angel."
"I see. You won't be back here until well past final exams.
However, if you bring back stones from the mine, I can prove anything required for passing you."
He placed his hands on my shoulders.
"I'll see you next year, nephew."
"Right."
I headed to the guild office and stepped in with Linh at my side.
"Oh! Hello again!" I heard and the same young woman was running the counter.
"I still can't believe that the mixing pot placed you both at SS ranks.
Anyway, what can I help you with?"
"We're taking Journey to the North."
All conversations ceased and the room became deathly silent as people stared.
"I figured. Good luck, I suppose.
Not that you'll need it."
"Why do you say that?"
"Hello! You're an SS rank adventurer with his SS rank divine beast wife!
You'll lay waste to anyone that draws a weapon against you and, especially, her.
Did I miss anything?"
"I suppose not.
Here, take our quest off of the roster.
We'll be taking it slow, as, I fully intend to become at least V rank before I return."
"There is no such rank. Triple S is as high as it goes."
"I have an ability to see a person's maximum level potential.
Linh's is the same as my own because we're married."
"What is it?"
"Level Z-25."
"I don't understand."
"We're currently level S-2.
The levels, of this world, stop in the Z tier but no one has ever seen it."
"I'll have you explain that to the guild master when you return.
I need both of your guild cards, or your marriage license."
I handed our cards to her.
"Alright. Just a moment.
Let me process the quest."
She turned and placed our cards into a slot on a stone slab.
Placing the job poster on the slab, she stabbed a key through it and into the slab.
She turned the key and pulled it out.
"Alright, now... three... two... one..."
The poster burst into flames and the embers encircled us before dissipating.
"There you are. You're officially hired for the Journey to the North quest."
"Thank you. Oh, may I ask your name?"
"Ēlíé."
"Well, then. Until next we meet."
As we headed out of the guild office, I noticed that something was off about Linh and grabbed her tail tip.
