Will's POV

It was interesting convincing our first period teachers not to give us detention for coming into class three minutes late. Thankfully, Jasmine was one good liar, and the teachers believed her immediately. It was really great that Nico was new, because that was her excuse.

Jasmine drove us home, almost hitting the mailbox while parking into her driveway. The weird thing was, there was already a car there. But Jasmine was an only child, and she looked confused as well. So it couldn't have been her parents'.

We all stepped out, Nico the most horrified. Even he didn't recognize the car.

"Uh, I've never seen that car before in my life," Jasmine muttered, turning to us. "Have you guys?"

We both shook our heads. "I don't think so, anyway," I shrugged.

She dug her hand inside her backpack and pulled out a pair of scissors. I decided not to question her, since most demigods usually had excuses to run around with knives.

"What's that for?" Nico gulped.

She shrugged. "Protection. You never know what you might find in there."

Nico scowled. "You're overreacting."

Jasmine rolled her eyes. "Whatever. Better safe than sorry."

Jasmine led us to the door slowly, although Nico looked pretty miffed.

She opened the door and walked in before Nico and I did. She held the scissors high to threaten the intruder.

We heard a scuffling noise in the kitchen.

"Who goes there?" Jasmine shouted out when we walked in.

It was Percy. Percy Jackson. What was he doing there?

"Who're you and what are you doing in my house?" Jasmine demanded, taking a loud step towards Percy, whose eyes widened.

"Your house?" He asked. "I thought Nico and Will lived here!"

"We do," Nico muttered.

"My family owns this property, tresspasser," Jasmine growled at him. "I suggest you explain."

"Well, my father suggested I come to live here in Nebraska with my friends," Percy shrugged. "So, here I am."

"Uninvited," Jasmine mumbled, setting her scissors on the counter. "Figured."

Then she turned to us. "Who is he?"

"That's Percy," I said. "I swear, we didn't know he was coming."

Jasmine nodded. "I know. It's easy to tell when you lie."

She turned back to Percy, while Nico laughed at her comment towards me, making me blush a little bit.

"Your dad didn't care to tell me you're here?" Jasmine asked, irritated. "I could've hurt you."

"Uh, fat chance," Percy snorted. "I have good reflexes."

I made a gesture to him not to bring up Demigodly features, and he understood, looking at the ground.

"So do I," Jasmine raised her eyebrow. "Well, I'll help you get settled upstairs. Uh, but I don't have another bedroom. And my parents would kill me if some random teenager sleeps in their room."

I glanced at nico, and he glanced back at me.

"Thanks for volunteering, boys," Jasmine smirked. "It's settled, then. Nico and Will can share Will's bedroom. Percy, you'll take Nico's old room. He's only been in there a night, so it should be clean."

Percy scoffed, smiling. "You have no idea."

Nico frowned at that.

Jasmine helped Percy get all his stuff upstairs and he got all settled in.

After dinner was finished, Jasmine got some tea made and gave everyone a cup.

"I can't stand secrets," Jasmine said after taking a sip of her tea.

I started to sweat. Was she going to find out about us?

"There's no way all of your dads wanted the same thing for you," Jasmine continued. "To live in Nebraska to get an education? As if. I want the truth. Now."

"Why should we tell you?" Nico scoffed.

"Because you're all living in my house," Jasmine sighed. "I deserve to know."

"There's nothing to hide," Percy said. "We're not leaving anything out."

Jasmine narrowed her eyes at him. "I don't believe you. Your dad, whoever he is, would've told me if he wanted you to stay here with me. There's obviously a reason you just barged in before we got home from school."

Percy froze.

"Aha," Jasmine mumbled, taking another sip.

Nico bit his lip.

"Oh, and I want to know what's so secretive about your dads," Jasmine added. "Nico, your dad would barely show his face. He's paying me so much money to let you stay here. He must be super rich. Who is he?"

Nico didn't answer.

"And Will, your dad was so nice and kind, but also felt somewhat familiar to me," Jasmine continued. "I never even talked to Percy's dad."

Us boys sat in silence, not touching the tea.

"The silence is what scares me," Jasmine huffed. "The fact that you three are too scared to mention anything to me."

"We're not scared," Nico growled. "We don't have to talk if we don't want to."

"Tell that to your dad," Jasmine snapped. "I don't want to live with liars."

Nico slumped back in his seat.

"Fine," Jasmine stood from her chair. "Don't tell me anything. But don't expect me to tell you anything either."

She walked into the living room and disappeared up the staircase.

"She's figuring things out," Percy muttered. "That can't happen."

"My dad's familiar to her?" I said. "How?"

"She's mortal," Nico mumbled. "If she finds out about our world, danger will come to her."

"But we can't tell her that," I told them. "She won't believe us."

"Until a monster shows up and kills her," Nico scowled. "Can't we just ignore her?"

I shook my head. "There's no way that's going to happen. She will pry all the information out of us. That's how she found out I was gay."

"You didn't tell her?" Percy asked.

I shook my head. "I didn't want to get teased. At the time, she didn't exactly show her feelings towards LGBTQ+ yet. She found a picture of Nico hidden in my room and assumed."

Nico blushed. "This can't be good."

"I'm going to bed," Percy yawned. "We'll figure it out in the morning."

"Me too," Nico said, taking my hand and dragging me upstairs.

We cuddled up against each other into bed, but I couldn't fall asleep. All I thought about was whether my first friend at my school was going to hate me for lying and being secretive.
