Through the pain

Monster

I have a monster in my head
Who tells me what to do.
That's why I don't belong to myself.
I just live by its rules.

There are actions I can't take,
And the problems I can't solve.
But this monster in my head
Knows how to make a show.

I'd never seen him before
It told me to look in the mirror.
It never leaves me alone.
I know it's too severe.

Taught to love my flaws.
Taught to cope with pain.
I don't want to let it go.
It's my only friend.
