The Rest of The World Cup

After Elizabeth played guitar for a few of the other new girls, It was dark when they were all leaving to go back to hotel for dinner and rest before three days of training ahead of their last group game against China PR in four days time,

Along the walk back to the hotel, Elizabeth could not stop thinking about the interaction she had with one of the girls on the team, she had never seen in that way before, it really knocked her for six as she had always saw her as a friend, as they had known each other since they played together in U19's for England

England have had a few really tough and testing games but they've gotten through them all including beating current champions and favourites coming into the tournament the US women's national team in a nail biting and edge of seat thrilling semi- final where england came from 2-0 down in the first 80 minutes to Elizabeth scoring the fastest hat trick to be scored in women's football scoring a minute after coming on due to a corner then scoring another two goals in three minutes, meaning she scored a hat trick in four minutes, a minute quicker then the previous record holder,

It was Sunday the 20th of August,, the game was at 8pm which was 9am back home, the teams got to Stadium Australia at about 4pm due to huge crowds before the game, on the bus Alessia, Ella and Elizabeth were sitting at a four seater table, Elizabeth, Alessia and Ella had become inseparable over these past few games, as they were all the same age and were in the age groups together but they weren't very close as they are now, the trio were playing uno for the hour and twenty minute journey from their base camp in Gosford, most of the others were either listening to music or trying to get a bit of last minute rest.

There was a crowd of little kids and fans surrounding the bus as they drove in, so as they were walking in they signed a few autographs and went to the dressing room to leave their stuff and go for a pitch inspection.

England were the Underdogs coming into the final as Sweden had not conceded a goal yet in this tournament, Where as England had conceded three in their past five games, 

The team were confident coming into even the final,

The Game

Sweden were a tough opponent as they had most of the possession in the first ten minutes but a amazing save from Earps, stopped the lionesses from conceding early on, thankfully the game after that point was mostly dominated by the England midfield which led to Alessia getting a magnificent goal that she shot from outside and caught the keeper off guard because Alessia acted as if she passed it to Elizabeth as she struck it in the net,  

Alessia immediately ran to Elizabeth who taught her that trick in training, they both celebrated with the rest of the team, in the 75th minute a familiar face to the Arsenal players on the England Stina Blackstenius struck an absolute worldie of a goal to make it 1-1, 

When Lindahl went down injured in the 80th minute it gave both teams to recuperate after Blackstenius' goal, this is when leah gave her famous "c'mon girls" speech, it must of plucked something in the girls as for the last 9 minutes of the game was under england's control but their goal didn't come until the last minute of added time when similar to the goal in Elizabeth's debut goal against Denmark but what was different with this goal is that Leah kicked a long ball from just outside the England box and when Elizabeth got the ball she ran through the three defenders and getting one on one with the keeper who was being joined by the defenders but before they got anywhere near the ball was in the back of the net with Elizabeth running over to Sarina and the rest of the team who were all jumping on top of Elizabeth whilst the fans were going mad because they're was only two minutes max left on the clock

Those last few seconds seemed like hours for everyone on the pitch that when the final whistle did go, for the players it didn't feel real that england were actually world champions, they are the first senior english team to win a world cup since 1966, a proud moment for every england lionesses fan was seeing captain Leah Williamson lifting the World cup.

Sorry I have updated in over two months i've  been just so unmotivated and had writers block for this story but i have a few ideas for this story so hopefully I will upload more in the future )
