Avoiding Fate

The Penalty .....

Elizabeth's POV:

The penalty was being taken in front of the arsenal fans who agreed with Leah saying I tripped and she did not push me so they were all booing me and trying to get me to miss this penalty I tried to not let them to get into my head that's when the ref blew the whistle,

I kicked the ball right top corner the ball was within inches from being saved but it went out of reach of Zinsberger and went into the back of the net meaning Spurs were 3-2 up with 3 minutes of normal time plus whatever extra time the ref was going to give left, after the ball went...

Chloe and Kait who were standing just outside the box dragged me over to the side where the entire bench and managing team were standing all celebrating because it went in the net but before I celebrated I saw Leah my hero standing there with her head in her hands, I felt terrible,

I had never felt like this before I should've felt amazing but I just beat my favorite team since I was child and to make matters worse I scored because my hero brought me down in the box,

My internal gooner was screaming that I shouldn't be celebrating so I didn't I just hugged all of my team emotionless I hated this feeling all I wanted was to go to Leah and say I'm sorry for scoring, I just wanted this match to be over so when I heard the ref blow the whistle for full time I ran over to Kait and Chloe then we ran into the changing room we stayed there until everyone left well what we thought was everyone whilst we were walking out we saw the Arsenal team getting ready to go just as Leah was getting on the bus we made eye contact then she got on the bus, seeing her brought back all the emotions I felt after scoring,

When we got home I spent most of my time reading all of the stuff people were saying about the match on social media that's when I saw two tweets that really struck a nerve they were made by an Arsenal fan account a die hard one at that

The tweets said:

"I can't believe @ebennett00 let @leahcwilliamson just get a yellow card without admitting that she tripped I mean everyone could see she tripped was the ref blind or something ?"

"Also another thing if @ebennett00 was a gunner at heart she wouldn't have celebrated after the goal whilst @leahcwilliamson was literally standing there with her head in her hands, I used to love Elizabeth but after seeing what happened today I've never wished a player was injured more than I did watching her today"

I was looking at the replies most of them were agreeing with this certain person they even made two hashtags they were "#EBisatraitor" and "#injureEB"

After seeing those I decided to just turn off my phone because I was getting tagged in so many tweets I just wanted to shut off from the world so that's what I did,

I hadn't been on social media for two days which was very unlike me as I would usually post everything online,

The day after the match my manager was made aware of amount of abuse I was getting online and pulled me from the team for the game we had against Chelsea at the weekend, the statement the club posted about me had to have the comments turned off after the first 30 minutes because there was so much hurtful things I had to turn off my phone I honestly thought about just calling quits on my career but I couldn't do that because then everything I went through when I made my U19 England debut would've been all for nothing,

I just got mad at myself for going back into this crappy place, I got sick of it so I brought Kait and Chloe to the karaoke bar after training, to be honest we were all a bit pissed off out of this entire situation

The day the statement went up which was the day after the match I was in the sitting room when I got a text from a unknown number

Unknown:

"Hey.. I know I probably should've texted you to check in after the match when all of this nonsense happened, I am utterly shocked by what has happened to you online, I never expected people to come after you, I am also heartbroken that you have to miss your game against Chelsea because of my stupidity I'm going to make this right. As someone once said to me in a letter that we shouldn't care what people say online they don't know the situation in real life or how it may affect us, if there is anything I can do to help please let me know

I sat there in shock as I had just gotten a text from one of my footballing heroes, I was sitting there until Kait came running in saying

K: Liz, Leah Williamson just a posted a video addressing your situation

E: What do you mean?

Kait shows Elizabeth the phone with the video it was Leah recording herself like holding her phone like she was taking a selfie Leah was in the Arsenal changing room as she had just it was a minute long video about how she did push her in the box and the referee made the right decision about the penalty , Elizabeth commented hearts on the post.

It was Jordan's going away party a few days after all of the shenanigans that had gone on all of the Arsenal players were at the party it was now a good few hours into the party a few of girls went out clubbing to a club in London and on Jen Beattie's story she saw Emilia and another girl pretty close to each other as if Emilia was kissing her neck,

Elizabeth didn't know how to react when Chloe sent her the story so she did what came naturally she wrote a song, whilst she was writing it in her room, Kait could hear me screaming the song she had just written so she started filming it when she was singing the last verse at this part Elizabeth was fully going for it, Kait decided to post the video in her Instagram story with the caption " never break @ebennett00 's heart or she'll go like this" an hour after posting it everyone loved it and it went viral, people were shocked that Elizabeth could sing, so at the next match the away team fans started playing it when she started walking out for training, which Elizabeth hated...

I know fans wouldn't wish an injury just for the dramatic effects of the story they do.
