They all began to work on their projects, conversing about their interests. "So what brings you two here? Like to this school specifically?" Tsireya asked curiously. Kiri took a quick glance at Lo'ak trying to decipher how this situation was about to go. "Uh- I got expelled from our last school. For um-" he hesitated "For fighting," Kiri looked at her bother studying his face. He looked ashamed. She quickly snatched his paper from him, "Aye! Stop it!" he hissed. "Move dipshit give me a minute," she picked up her pencil and starting scribbling something in the corner of his paper. "What are you doing, give it back Kiri" "HOLD THE FUCK ON," she set her pencil down and slid his paper back in his view. 'you're not a bad person, btw' he gave her the biggest smile then ripped the corner of his paper off. He took the case off his phone and set the paper on the back of his phone, replacing the phone case back on. Kiri could tell how much it meant to Lo'ak that people didn't view him as a bad person. She knows how hard he tries to be better for the sake of his family and himself. Tsireya looked at the two with a puzzled expression. Lo'ak avoided direct eye contact while Kiri squinted her eyes giving her an "i'll tell you later" look.
After the bell had rung and class ended, the three of them packed their things and headed out to the halls. "Imma text Teyam and see where he is," Kiri explained tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
Tey:
Hey - (kiri)
Where are you?(neteyam) - upstairs, you?
Downstairs - (kiri)
I have history next, wbu? - (kiri)(neteyam) - oh same, mr. morris?
Yup. But aren't you supposed to be in economics this year? - (kiri)
(neteyam) - nope
(neteyam) - didn't get enough credits at the last school so... 😁👍🏾Lo'ak is so lucky we love his ass lol - (kiri)
"Tey's upstairs and we both have history with Mr. Morris next. What do you guys have next?" Kiri asked. "I have english with Ms. Harlow," Lo'ak sighed, "And I have French with Mrs. Odette" Tsireya followed up. "Damnit. Well when do you guys have lunch?" Kiri hurriedly asked in fear she may lack classes with what may be her only new friend. "I have it fifth and so does Teyam, we checked this morning while you were throwing your temper tantrum," Lo'ak laughed, clearing his throat after seeing the intense glare he was receiving from his sister. "I have fifth lunch too!" Tsireya clapped excitedly. "You can sit with me, my brother and our best friend. I'll ask them right now, I'm sure they'll say yes," she explained while pulling her phone out her back pocket. "Okay great! Well I better go catch Neteyam before he starts throwing a fit," Kiri joked approaching Lo'ak to do their signature handshake before walking away. She swept up the stairs and saw Neteyam talking to a boy that looked oddly familiar for some reason. "Hey," she put a hand up in the air while approaching her brother. "Oh hey! How was your first period?" he asked. "We were 15 minutes late, but besides that it was pretty decent," she explained "Oh and we made a new friend too which was nice," she finished. "Good, I'm glad it didn't totally suck," he nodded in relief. Kiri made a point to stare at the tall boy standing next to her brother who was munching on chocolate pocky. She's sworn she's seen him before she just can't put her finger on it. "Oh yeah, this is Ao'nung. He's in my algebra class." he replied gesturing to the tall boy besides him, "Ao'nung this is Kiri my younger sister," He gave her a slight wave and a smile before offering her a pocky. She gratefully accepted the offer give him a small nod of thanks.
Ao'nung had walked Neteyam and Kiri to their history class while he headed off to economics. As they entered the classroom Kiri nudged her brother and raised her eyebrows at him. "What?" he asked completely lost. "Oh nothing" she said smiling. They found an empty table and sat next to each other. The teacher was honestly really fun and didn't call them out for being new which was nice. They didn't seem to do that sort of thing at this school which brought a huge relief to Kiri. Before she knew it the bell had rung and the next two periods after that had flew by. Now it was time for lunch. Kiri navigated her way towards the lunch room and began to scout out Tsireya. She pushed past people and walked through conversations looking for any sign of the curly headed girl. Eventually she saw a girl rapidly waving her arm in the air looking in the direction of Kiri. It was Tsireya. Kiri made her way to the table spotting someone she hadn't yet met before. "Kiri this is my brother Ao'nung," So that's why he looked so familiar, he looked just like Tsireya. "and this is our best friend Rotxo!" "Hello!" he said with a big smile on his face. He was eating a sandwich and happened to get some mustard on the corner of his mouth. Kiri decided to stay silent about it for now in case he would get offended if she told him about the yellow glob hanging from his lips. "Ha! Dude get that shit off your lip man," Ao'nung burst out laughing at his friend. Rotxo quickly grabbed a napkin from his lunchbox and wiped the sides of his mouth. "Is it gone? Is it gone? Am I all good now?" Rotxo asked the two girls obviously embarrassed by the previous encounter with Ao'nung. Rotxo whispered something to Ao'nung, but Kiri couldn't quite pick up the words spoken. She decided to open her lunch bag and pull out her bag of almonds. Her appetite wasn't very strong at the moment so her peanut butter and banana sandwich stayed put. Just as she was about to place an almond in her mouth she felt someone pushing down on her shoulders causing her to drop her almond on the floor's. "Teyam! Quit it," "How'd you know it was me?" he asked genuinely. "Cause you're the only person who's dumb enough to scare people while they're eating," Kiri scoffed. "Where's Lo'ak she asked looking around the cafeteria. "I think he's taking a hit in the bathrooms. He seemed upset about something earlier, I'm not sure what though," Upset? What had made him upset it such a short period of time? Kiri would make sure to ask him about it later.
