Why Can't I?

Old social norms of what love is supposed to be:
"A man and a woman, starting a family."
Ideals that have been passed through generations.
Preventing everyone from other relations.

"Reality" that many can't seem to swallow.
A "sin" for both colors to become a rainbow.
Taste of forbidden fruits, dreams for a "you and me".
The kind of affection I wanted, secretly.

Mind filled with countless questions, heart numbed with the pain.
Sending subtle confessions that I can't restrain.
Chained from the past, unable to move in present.
Out of my league, yet my heartbeats are persistent.

"This world is full of curves, why can't I be bent too?"
"If they can fall in love, why can't I be with you?"
"Love is blind, that's why you can't see me standing here."
Admiring from a far, wishing to disappear.

Ambiguous words flowing, feelings for the princess.
Such noble meant for a prince, not a writing mess.
Merely watching, tears that shines brighter than the sun.
"If I were a guy, then I would have been your man."
