Ash/Brook POV

The sun broke over the horizon, filtering through my eyelids.

I opened my eyes slowly, glancing down at Maddie, who was still asleep.

I smiled at her peaceful face, the small smile she had.

I glanced around, making sure that no one had found us. Not yet.

I sighed in relief, twirling Maddie's hair in my fingers.

"Ash?"I heard her whisper, her eyes opening.

"Yeah?" I whispered back.

"I just wanted to make sure you were there," she grabbed my hand, interlocking her fingers with mine.

"I'm not going anywhere,"

"Good," she laughed, closing her eyes again.

I tucked her hair behind her ears, tracing my fingers down her back.

She rubbed her eyes, sitting up.

"You okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm just awake now," she smiled, making my heart flutter.

"I see,"

"So what are we going to do?" Maddie asked, sitting down on the sand.

I shrugged.

"Where do you want to go?"

"Well, where is there to go?"

I shrugged again.

"Anywhere you want,"

"Well then come on," she held out her hand and pulled me up.

She hopped up on her horse and took off north. I smiled and climbed up on my horse, following her.

"Look, an abandoned cabin!" Maddie called.

She hopped off her horse, tying him to the tree.

I jumped off next to her and followed her.

In front of us stood a wooden cabin.

It was a small, cozy cabin. It looked like it hadn't been used in the past decade.

Maddie ran forward, and opened the door.

"Be careful," I called, walking in after her.

"Wow, its so pretty,"

I looked around the inside. It was quite nice. It was dusty and some things were out of place, but it was still nice.

"Can we live here?" Maddie asked, spinning around.

I glanced at her. She was smiling like crazy and looked like she was trying to stop herself from jumping up and down.

"I mean, why not," I shrugged.

"Yes!" She actually jumped this time then leaned forward and kissed me.

I kissed her back, smiling.

I didn't know how long we were going to be able to stay there but it didn't matter.

We were happy.
