(A week after the last chapter; XS is currently running around Bellwood at super-speed)
Ben: (coms) Nora, you passed the store by ten blocks.
XS: My bad.
(XS runs back ten blocks)
XS: Found it.
Ben: (coms) You'll get used to the layout of Bellwood.
(XS enters the store and sees 2 men with guns)
XS: Why don't you guys just leave and no one has to get hurt.
Criminal#1: Who the hell are you?
Criminal#2: Someone's dressed up for Halloween early.
XS: Do you guys want to do this the easy way or the hard way?
(The criminals aim their guns at XS)
XS: Hard way then.
(The criminals open fire but XS catches all of the bullets)
XS: You'll be going to jail now, but you can keep these.
(XS drops the bullies from her hand. Then XS moves at lightning speed; tying the criminals up)
XS: You're safe now.
(She says to the shop owner and then speeds off)
Mr. Baumann: Why does this always happen to me?
(Cut to Plummer base)
Ben: Good job, Nora. You deserve a break come on back.
(Ben relaxes in his chair when Kevin and Gwen walk in)
Ben: Hey.
Kevin: Sup.
Gwen: Where's Nora? I wanted to tell her some embarrassing stories about you.
Ben: Yeah no. Nora is out stopping crime, she should be back soon.
Gwen: I'm surprised you're letting her go on her own. You usually like to be in the spotlight.
Ben: The past 3 years, I had to learn to accept help and put trust in others. Me and Nora are a make a great team. Sometimes we both go out together fighting crime, sometimes we take turns. Today was Nora's turn.
Kevin: Well, well, well. Someone's finally matured into a man.
Ben: I had too. I couldn't be the same reckless guy anymore. I had to be more. And as a wise friend once told me, "I have to be someone else, something else." And he hurt me a couple of times, but I'm stronger because of him.
Gwen: Who is he?
Ben: His name is Oliver. He has a thing for the color green and arrows.
(Suddenly Nora runs in)
Nora: Hey guys.
Gwen/Kevin: Hey.
Nora: So Gwen, you ready to get coffee?
Gwen: Yep.
(Gwen and Nora leave and Gwen looks at Ben while she leaves)
Ben: (whispers) Don't you dare.
(Gwen sticks, her tongue out at Ben as she leaves)
Ben: (sighs) I'm never going to hear the end of it from Nora.
Kevin: That's rough buddy. Listen, I got to go. I still have to fix my car.
(Kevin leaves the base)
Ben: Now I'm alone.
(Then Max walks in)
Max: Hey kiddo.
Ben: You know, I used to be annoyed when you called me that. Now I'm happy just hearing your voice.
Max: I missed you too Ben. So does your partner.
Ben: I know, Kevin and Gwen have barely given me any breathing room.
Max: I know they miss you, but someone else misses you too.
Ben: Who?
(Suddenly someone walks in)
Ben: Rook?!
Rook: Partner.
(Ben gets up and hugs Rook)
Ben: It's so good to see you again. I thought you were on an important mission?
Rook: Magister Tennyson, gave me permission to come back early. He also told me that you were stuck on another planet.
Ben: More like a parallel planet... Earth, I mean.
Rook: So another planet.
Ben: No it's not like that... you got me.
Rook: That joke never gets old.
Ben: (scoffs) You finally get sarcasm. I'm so proud.
Max: I'll let the two of you catch up.
(Max leaves)
Ben: So I hear you've been promoted. Congratulations.
Rook: Thank you. Being Magister Tennyson's personal bounty hunter is a hard job, but I enjoy it.
Ben: You became a bounty hunter, and I became a superhero... again.
Rook: Yes, Magister Tennyson, told me about that. Omnies, I like that. It suits you.
Ben: Thanks. I bet you make a great bounty hunter.
Rook: That's what I'm told.
(Ben and Rook continue to talk when Ben remembers something)
Ben: Hey, when was the last time we spared?
Rook: A few weeks before you turned 18.
Ben: What do you say, want to go another round?
Rook: You're really offering to spare with me? I've always won. Without transforming.
Ben: I won't transform.
Rook: Are you sure about this?
Ben: For the past 3 years, I've been learning a lot of things. I want to put it to practice. What do you say partner?
Rook: Winner buys lunch.
Ben: You're so on!
(Ben and Rook go to the training room)
