Chapter 14 : Caught up

Maya's POV

next stop 34 ave, sounds the speaker

"Shit" I groan, "we've missed Riley's stop",

Lucas doesn't look bothered, "umm let's meet her after" he says.

"hey yeah" I say sliding out my phone from my jeans pocket, "i'll text her right now".

"Quickly, it's almost our stop" he says standing up and brushing off his pants,

M: Lucas and I will be at the library from 6-7 please come meet us here, miss your riles x

I put my phone back and sit up, "ready?" Lucas says putting out his hand for me, a take it and stand up, "ready" I breathe and we walk out of the subway.

The streets are cold and push my hands as far down into my woolen coat pockets as I can, my scarf hugs my neck tightly and my curly hair blows untamed in the wind.

"That's some crazy hair you got there clutterbucket" Lucas laughs,

I scrunch my nose at him and we continue to walk the calm streets, it's only 6 but the sky is already falling darker. Lucas suddenly stops and I am startled my leather brown worn boots clunk together and I nearly fall and let out an unattractive grunt in the process.

Lucas laughs, "nice one clutterbucket",

"I planned that!" I protest "besides not like you could pull off any stunts like that Ranger Rick",

he gives a sarcastic laugh and opens the door for me,

I walk in and as soon as I do, instantly feel the warmth and atmosphere of the library surround me.

I come to the library alot,

reading is like a safe haven,

nobody knows I spend most of my time here.

We find a four seater wooden table and pull up our chairs, Lucas sitting next to me.

"So where should we start" Lucas says dumping the tower of books we had collected onto the wooden table,

"I think we just need to work on the final bit's of information and get our presentation prepared", I pull out a piece of paper from under all the books,

"we can make a poster" I say tilting the paper between landscape and portrait, and we begin work.

It's been about 10 minutes and the poster is really starting to come through, I take quick glances back to Lucas unsure whether I should break the silence and say something.

A million things are running through my brain, I wan't to talk more about Riley and him,
