Chapter 10 : The fight

Riley's POV

I see Josh approaching Rebel and Maya from the corner of my eye and do a little dance inside.

Yes it's working, finally we can get rid of Rebel,

Maya loves Josh with all her heart, and four years of being in love with someone beats 2 weeks,

besides I'm really worried about what's going on between Maya and Rebel, Maya's tough and that's not always good.

Maya's POV

"Remember when we pranked Mr Witman?" Rebel laughs,

"I can still see the look on his face" I giggle,

"he was all like" Rebel makes a silly face,

I put my hand on my stomach, "never have I laughed so hard!" I joke,

wiping an imaginary tear from my eye.

Suddenly the smile from Rebel's face dissapears, it looks as if his looking at me, but I can tell his not, it's something coming up from behind me.

"Heyy Maya Hart"

I don't need to turn around, I can recognise that charming voice from anywhere,

"hey Josh" I smile tilting my head,

he comes up next to me.

"and this is?" he says looking to Rebel,

"ah" I grin, " that's Rebel".

"Rebel" Josh says, putting on fake smile,

"yeah don't wear it out" Rebel rolls his eyes,

"how is everything" Josh asks staring me right in my eyes, as if they were coaxing me in, into that endless unrequited love, I know he doesn't love me back, never has and he never will.

I break eye contact and cast my gaze to a mat on the floor, "good" I pause, " I guess".

"Hey" Josh teases, "say you had a good day and mean it" he grins,

and I crumble inside.

Josh's POV

"Are you feeling okay" I ask Maya,

she keeps breaking eye contact with me and this isn't normal,

"I'm fine" she says looking at Rebel,

that Rebel guy is dead cold, he won't even give me a second glance.

"look we should go" he says putting his arm around Maya and this kills me inside, why do I feel this way I don't like Maya, right?

Maya looks up at him and kisses him, are you serious right now, this is not fair Maya is supposed to love me not him.

"not right now baby" she says partly whispering,

"we need to leave" he says sterner this time,

"I can't leave Riley" Maya whines,

"would you rather be with her or me" he argues,

wow this escalated fast, no surprise, I raise my eyebrows but feel best it's not to say anything.

Maya's POV

I know Rebel wants to leave but we can't,

not when Riley is here and Lucas hasn't even shown up,

that dick.

I'll have to have a word with him at school.

Josh's POV

Maya hesitates, and I know this makes Rebel steam.

"you'd better not be telling me you'd rather be here" he argues,

"well I - " she begins

"you bitch" he cusses rolling his eyes, taking his arm off her.

and just like that a part inside of me snaps.

"Don't you dare call Maya a bitch" I threaten him, I'm taller than him which makes it much easier to look down on him.

"don't you dare tell me what to do" Rebel mutters taking a step closer to me,

damn this guys has more guts than I thought, still not surprising.

"well then don't swear at your girlfriend" I argue, I cringe at saying the word girlfriend.

"yeah and why should I listen to you" he smirks,

"If I had a girlfriend as beautiful as Maya, I surely wouldn't treat her half as bad as how you do" I yell, I think for a second, one regretful second.

Have I worded this wrong, do I really like Maya?

Not that she would care anyway, she's all caught up with this idiot Rebel's little game.

"Don't tell me how to treat her" he argues back shoving me.

Riley's POV

I'm constantly spying on what Maya, Josh and Rebel are up to, hoping my plan is working out.

"By the end of the night it should be bye bye Rebel" I say under my breath.

But I hear arguing and this can't be good, I wander a little closer and am hoping I can catch a little of what they are saying.

"Don't tell me how to treat her!" Rebel argues,

shit, this can't be good.

I panic and hide behind the nearest group of people, then look at them again,

Rebel shoves Josh,

what have I done?

And how can I stop this.

My already overactive mind raising, this cannot be happening, I have to be dreaming, there's an actual fight going on in my living room, what the actual heck.

I snap out of it and walk over to them,

"Rebel stop!" Maya yells pulling his arm,

"don't push me" Josh threatens to Rebel giving him a gentle shove,

"I thought I told you" he jeers, " don't tell me what to do" and on that key he slaps Josh right in the cheek.

"Josh!" I scream are you okay,

I look at him, he's cheek not too badly bruised but you can definitely tell it wasn't a squirrel who slapped him.

"I'm okay Riley" he says, bringing a hand to his cheek,

"I'm out" he says walking out of the room.
