Donghyuck doesn’t have gasoline or a lighter on him, he realizes with dread.

He has his backpack though, and he opens it hastily, probably ruining the zipper in the process. He dumps everything out against the ground. There’s a package of dried fruits, a gun with two bullets in it, a water bottle and some other small objects he’d forgotten were inside. Donghyuck clenches his hands into fists tightly, nails digging into his skin as he yells out out it in frustration.

There’s no way out of this alive.

He sits like that for a while, listening to the walkers working relentlessly at the only thing separating them. When he finally opens his eyes he sees a crumpled piece of paper among the items in front of him. He knows what it is and what it says by heart, and yet he still smooths out the wrinkled paper anyways. He runs his thumbs over the words scrawled over it.

I’m sorry hyung. I’m doing something reckless again; you’ll probably be mad at me and scold me again. I just can’t take it anymore.
