At least, Magnus was good at keeping his word.

I thought about this as I held the black box, delivered a few minutes ago by a spotty teenage courier who was visibly ecstatic to see me in my satin chemise. After placing the box on my kitchen counter, I opened the lid, and saw a white envelope sitting on top of the folded tweed waistcoat and trousers he wore yesterday.

With shaky fingers, I fished out the note inside and read it.

Lena,

Here you are, as promised, dry-cleaned and free of blood.

Magnus.

I put the note back in the envelope, tucked the box away in the far side of my closet, and went back to sleep with the blinds shut for the rest of the day.
