Chapter 5: Get to Know Kelsey Moore

I sat in my room playing my guitar while thinking of everything that went on today.

I began to play the beginning of Autumn Leaves by Ed Sheeran and hummed along.

I survived the day, I guess.

Harry and I have every class but one together so that's good...

Today went okay, until 3 o'clock hit and we were sent to Mrs. McKinnon's office to begin our "detention", or whatever she called it.

I continued to strum the chords of Autumn Leaves.

"Float down,

Like Autumn Leaves,

And hush now,

Close your eyes before the sleep..", I began to sing.

In detention, we were forced to clean the bathrooms, then we had to sweep the gym, and pick gum off of Mr. Harrill's, the English IV teacher, desks.

It was gross, to say the least.

And even better, the girls and guys were split up, so Gemma and I were off doing one thing, and Harry and Reagan were off doing something else. Um, awkward much? Yeah.

When we all met up at four to finish and go home, Harry had the most annoyed look on his face, and Reagan was red-faced and angry.

Well... Look at the bright side... They weren't dead. If that's a bright side, I guess it is.

I began to play the beginning of Put Yours Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae.

"Three little birds,

Sat on my window,

And they told me I don't have to worry.

Summer came like cinnamon,

So sweet.

Little girls double-dutch on the concrete.." I sang along with the tune.

*Harry's Point of View*

I sat in my room with my headphones in trying to block out the world.

Stupid school.

Stupid Mrs. McKinnon.

Stupid me.

Stupid life.

Stupid Reagan.

Reagan. He's an asshole, a complete and utter asshole.

I began to think of detention today when I was stuck with him, and only him, for a full hour, doing nothing but cleaning.

Dream come true, right? Not.

Right off the bat, he started agonizing me saying things like, "You like her", and "Wow. You really think she would ever like YOU? Haha, well guess what, she's taken. You won't have her now and you never will."

Yeah, he said that. If my hand wasn't bruised, I so would've put that snobby ass kid on the floor.

He's in denial, he thinks he's still dating Kelsey.

Psshhh. Retard. Just watch and see. When she's my girlfriend, I'm gonna make sure the whole world knows it.

It's going to be amazing.

She's amazing.

I was snapped out of my thoughts by seeing my bedroom door open in the corner of my eye. I looked over and saw Gemma standing in my doorway with a big grin on her face.

I took out my headphones and layed them on my bed.

"What do you want, Gemma?" I asked, quite annoyed.

"I came to tell you to stop drooling," she paused and laughed, "and come on downstairs, suppers ready. Mom fixed pizza."

"Okay." I answered, looking away.

I expected her to go away, but she just came over and say down beside me on my bed.

"You were thinking about Kelsey, weren't you?" She asked, though it sounded more like a statement.

"Umm.." I answered like an idiot.

"Don't lie to me, Haz. You like her and you know it," She paused to see my reaction, then continued , "You kissed her! OMG!"

I looked at her with a shocked expression.

"How did you-" I was cut off.

"Oh my gosh, Harry! Why did I not know about this? Why didn't you tell me? Like, seriously, you kissed Kelsey! Aww! You guys would be such an adorable couple! Aww! Can you just imagine how cute little Harry/Kelsey babies would be! Aww! And you guys would be just perfect, I mean you guys-"

"Gemma!" I almost shouted to get her to shut up.

"Sorry. I just- aww." She said with a smile.

We sat there in a comfortable silence for a few seconds.

"Are you gonna ask her out?" Gemma said with a grin as she nudged my shoulder.

"Yeah... I was going to." I replied hesitantly.

"Was?"

"No! I mean, I want to. I just don't know if I should."

"Harry. Remember in Biology?" she started.

That was the only class we all three had together.

"Remember what in Biology?" I asked, confused about where she was going with this.

"Remember that guy, Ray Prailer?"

"Yeah..." I said.

"Well he has definitely got his sights set on Kels, get her before he does."

She looked at me with questioning eyes.

"When are you gonna ask her?" She said.

"I don't know.. I really don't know." I answered honestly.

"You should ask her Friday, at the football game. And seeing that this is Monday, it will give you enough time to get to know her and sort things out." She smiled at me and then walked out the door.

"Don't forget, suppers ready!" She yelled from the hallway.

I stood up from my bed and headed towards my door, with on thing on mind: get to know Kelsey Moore.
