Chapter 12: Gone and Back Again

*Harry's Point of View*

Well, today's my first day back to school with Gemma and... yeah, I'll have to put up with Ray. Great.

As of right now, Gemma and I were on our way to school. I was dreading every single second of it, from the classes and work, all the people staring at me, Ray, Reagan, and detention.

What a great day this will be!

Please note the sarcasm.

Once we got there.. it was kinda, well, normal.

Normal- as in blend into the background and not be noticed at all.

My new normal.

Each school day following was basically the same: go to class, sit in the back, sit with Gemma at lunch, go back to class, and then go to detention.

My life was plain and boring since Kelsey had left.

I didn't do much, I just did whatever I was forced to do and I was kind of.. well, lifeless.

I was fifteen now, but doesn't mean anything. I'm still my stupid self.

Gemma and I were counting; it had been about a month since the Moore's had left.

Yes, a month. Like, where did they even go?

She hasn't texted, called, or attempted to talk to us. It kills me.

How could I care so much for a girl, and she doesn't care enough to even contact me when she just randomly leaves on a "family vacation".

Who does that?

It had been right around two months now, and we honestly didn't now if they were coming back.

Detention had ended about two weeks ago, and Reagan didn't really say much to me, maybe he finally grew up.

Nah, not possible.

Three months had now gone and come around, still showing no sign of them. I had given up. I was never going to see Kelsey again and I knew it. I just didn't understand the situation.

I had tried so hard to forget Kelsey ever even existed. Whatever THIS was, it was killing me. I couldn't do it.

It was my sophomore year now, and I had dated a few other girls at my school since Kelsey left, but I could barely restrain myself from calling them Kelsey. That would've ended quite badly.

The suspense, the anger, the disappearing, the mystery, the confusion: none of it made sense.

It was six months and thirteen days, I had given up, but I still had just a tiny bit of hope, so I still counted.

I was sitting in my now regular spot in the backyard, when I heard a car door slam on the other side of the fence and I was convinced it was them.

A few seconds later I heard a girl's voice. It was Kelsey. Oh my gosh. She's back.

I stood from my spot and ran towards her house. There she was.

She was at least four inches taller than when I last saw her. Her hair had grown a lot longer, almost down to her elbows. She was more collected and organized, but she was still Kelsey.

My Kelsey.

I ran and hugged her from behind, suprising her. She jumped slightly but realized it was me and started laughing.

"Harry! Oh my gosh, I've missed you so much! How have you been?" She said with a huge smile.

I let her go and she turned around. I was grinning from ear to ear.

"I- um, well," I couldn't tell her! How am I supposed to answer that? "I missed you so much!"

She went along with it.

"I missed you too!"

"Where did you go?" I asked, my face was now serious, almost angry.

She didn't answer, but instead replied, "Harry, are you-"

"Where did you go." I said through gritted teeth.

"We went to Paris for six months, okay? We stayed with my aunt." she replied and walked into her house angry, leaving me standing there.

Shit.

Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit.

What the hell is wrong with me? God.

I waited about fifteen minutes before going and knocking on her door.

She came and opened the door with an angry look on her face.

"What do you want now?" she said angrily.

"Please, Kelsey. Just talk to me. I'm sorry I didn't mean to so pushy and angry." I blurted out.

She closed the front door and stepped outside with me. She walked over and sat on the edge with her feet hanging over.

After a few minutes, she began to talk.

"Yeah Haz, I'm sorry too. I really missed you." she said.

I went and sat next to her and grabbed her hand.

"You will not believe how much I missed you, Kels. My life was hell." I replied.

We sat in silence for a while and just enjoyed each other's company.

After a few minutes, I broke the silence.

"Kelsey?"

"Yeah, Harry?"

This is it. It's now or never.

"I've been wanting to ask you this since the day I met you, will you be my girlfriend?"
