||Adoration to Persephone||

7 1 1

Salutations to the Soteira,
The saviour of the human soul,
Salutations to the Melitodes,
She who is as sweet as honey.

I bow down to the Megala Thea,
The great goddess of the underworld,
I bow down to the Praxidike,

She who bestows justice upon every soul.

You are of immense youthful beauty,
Fair skinned with a tinge of green,
Your frame is adorned by a flowing chiton,
Whilst a wreath of fresh flowers rests upon your head.

You are quoted the Hagne,
The purest of the pure,
You are said to be the Epaine as well,
She who is feared by both gods and men.

Great lady! You who nurture life,
Spring comes with your ascend from the underworld,
You are the epitome of hope and changes,
You prove that every storm shall oneday pass.

You are called Deione, the beloved daughter of Demeter;
The great goddess who presides agriculture,
She who brought forth everlasting winter upon earth,
When her daughter was taken away.

You are the beloved companion of Hades,
The eternal lord of underworld,
He who leads the soul from suffering to freedom,
He who bestows the living with wealth as well.

You are called the Daeira,
The all knowing goddess,
There is no secret, no quandary hidden from you,
You, who is the lady of both birth and demise.

You are the terrifying one,
When your rage has been evoked,
Your wrath is fearful which destroys all that comes in its way,
Thus Brimo is your other epithet.

You are the goddess Chthonia,
The one to whom the earth belongs,
You reside over its every aspect,
Be it the world of mortals, or of the dead.

You rule over all that exists,
And which that has no existence as well,
You are contradictory; for your forms and names are many,
And you are the elusive one, the unattainable being.

You are the mother goddess,
The one who gives us health and nourishment,
You are the Supreme being,
Unto whom shall we one day rest.

Thus here ends the hymn to the great mother,
She who is the giver of life,
May she bestow us with hope and faith,
That is my wish to her.
