chapter 9

to say I couldn't concentrate the rest of class was a understatement.

what was he doing here?

then the bell rung. I packed all my stuff up and was the last one out of class along with Luke and Katie behind me.

I walked out the door and Cameron was standing there.

"oh my god cam. what are you doing here?"

"mom moved us here last week!" he said hugging me.

"and you didn't tell me?!" I said.

"you didn't text me."

"cause we haven't talked all summer" I screamed at him.

"aye, just be glad I'm here." he said to me.

"I have to get to class." I told him.

"wait lex." he screamed after me.

"no cam. please." I said walking away.

I went to the next class still dazed. turns out cam was in all my classes.

the lunch bell rung, and I went to our usual table. it was me, katie, Luke, Dylan and a couple of his friends.

Justin came up and set with Dylan.

"hey sis." Justin said.

"hey."

"you mad at me?"

"no"

"are you sure?"

"no"

"what are you doing here anyways?"

"I brought yall lunch"

he walked over to me.

"look, I wanted to tell you but Cameron wanted to surprise you." he said.

"I'm not mad at you. it just makes me mad because we talked everyday then i would text him and he didn't answer. and we haven't talked all summer. then he shows up like everything's okay" I said with my voice cracking.

"I'm sorry lex. I didn't know" cam said from behind me.

we all turned around, as he was walking away.

"what are you doing lex? go after him" Dylan said.

i ran out. "cam! cam! cam!"

he finally stopped.

"let's go to the library" I said taking his finger and dragging him with me.

we sat at a table.

" I didn't mean what I said. you caught me off guard. after you left, I was miserable. I missed you so much. in just a week you somehow made your way up to where you meant everything to me. then when you stopped texting I kinda moved on. and yeah." I said.

"I had to quit texting. I got a girlfriend. she was protective. she found out about you and didn't want me around you. finally when mom mentioned she wanted to move here, she got all crazy and made me choose. and I choose to move cause I needed to see you. I thought you was the most beautiful thing the first day and still do. and I know it was the biggest mistake in my life to do that to you." he said.

"wow."

"I was gonna wait until your birthday but I can't wait no longer"

and with that, he grabbed my face carefully and slowly made his way to my lips until our lips crashed together. I have had kisses. but this kiss was amazing. it gave me butterflies like the first day he called me lex. we pulled away.

"will you be my girlfriend Alexa Thompson?" he asked with our foreheads still together.

"yes I would love to be your girlfriend Cameron Alexander"

"come on babe, shall we go let our siblings know?" he asked.

"yes we should." I said.

he grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers. we walked down the hall to the cafeteria.

"woah woah woah!!! what's this?" Justin said.

"well we are officially a couple!" I said.

"FINALLY!" Luke screamed causing the whole cafeteria to look at us.

I was happy. genuinely happy.

In the classes I had with Katie, it would be me, her and cam. the ones I had with Luke would be me, Luke and cam. and the same with Dylan.

"you gonna take me home?" cam said coming up behind me.

"I thought you was playing football?" I asked.

"can't start till tomorrow." he said.

"oh yeah. you gotta show me where to go" I said hugging him.

"okay princess" and there went the little butterflies in my stomach.

he rode in the back with Mason and Jordan.

"bye Katie!" I said.

"I'll text you in a bit!" she said as I drove off.

"so where?"

he showed me the direction to his house and in the end it ended up being the house beside ours. to say I was excited was an understatement.

"surprise?" mom and Amy said at the same time as I walked in.

"yeah.. so we have something to tell you all." cam said.

"your together?" my dad said.

"how'd you know?" I asked.

"I knew you'd end up together the very first day." Todd said.

we all ate and after dinner me and cam took a walk.

"I'm so glad your here" I said leaning my head on his shoulders.

"me too, me too"

I smiled.

"I have to tell you something when it's the right time, okay?" he said.

"okay." I said not pushing him.

he just brought my curiosity scale up high.
