Chapter 5:

"Won't you take a seat, Ms. Smith?" Alex asked, waving a hand to the only empty seat in the room.

I glanced at it, and groaned.

It was right in front of the class room, and the closest one to his desk.

"Where is Mr. Sylvester?" I asked, shifting my shoulder bag nervously, my fingers fiddling with the strap.

"He was sick," Alex said with an amused smile. "I'm his substitute for the next week,"

"I wasn't aware that college professors had substitutes," I said, making my way over to the seat.

"There are a lot of things of which you are not aware, Ms. Smith," he said quietly.

I jerked my head towards him, but he was already facing the black board.

"Entrepreneurship," he said the word as he wrote it, underlined it three times, and then turned to face the class again.

"Owning your own business is a challenge that not many people grasp," he said, placing his hands behind his back, starting to pace around the room. "There are challenges you must face when you own your own business. Challenges that include financial struggle, book keeping, customers that get on your nerves...,"

That got a chuckle out of the class, but not me. I was still watcing him warily, waiting for him to go psycho crazy again.

But it never happened. I was silent the entire class period, and very tense and aware. A few times he brushed up against me, or laid a hand on my desk. But he didn't say a word to me. His act of a very easy, laid back person, was even starting to fool me.

The smell of his cologne enveloped me, making my eyes drift shut. The gentle lull of his voice got softer, and softer, until I couldn't hear it anymore.

A hand touched my shoulder, and I opened my eyes.

I was in the wonderland again, where sunlight shone through every tree, every drop of morning dew. But this time, I wasn't in the spring. The naked women I saw were not present either. I furrowed my brow. Where was everyone?

"Adelina," came Alex's voice from behind me.

I slowly turned, and gazed up into his eyes.

"Adelina," he said, and smiled, the light glinting off his teeth almost blinding me. "Do you realize how tortuous it is being so close to you, and not being able to touch you?"

He swept his fingers along my cheek.

"You are touching me now," I pointed out, my breath quickening at his touch.

The fingers caressing my chek stilled, and were withdrawn.

I immediatly regretted their loss, and I stifled a sigh of dissapointment.

He noticed my reaction, and chuckled.

"Yes, but this is only a dream state," he whispered softly, his spicy breath blowing against my face. "You are actually still in your desk, while I droan on and on about bussiness,"

"So, how are you here and there at the same time?" I asked, noticing I did indeed feel the impression of the chair against my legs.

"My body is actually on auto pilot right now, " he said, taking me in his arms. "You fell asleep, and I urged my conciousness to merge with your conciousness,"

He bent his head down to nibble my ear.

My breath quickned, and I held his face to my ear.

"How are you able to do that?" I asked, the question barely audible.

I felt him chuckle, and he slid his attention down to my neck, right where my pulse point was.

"Years of experience," he said, holding me more firmly to him.

I sighed.

"You know that if I was able to think properly, I wouldn't be letting you do this," I said.

He laughed, the sounds vibrating from my body to his.

"You always were so stubborn, my love,"

I tried to muster the strength to push him off, but what he was doing felt so good, I decided to let him stay there.

"That is another thing," I grated out from between clenched teeth. "Why do you presume to assume, that I am your wife, and the Queen of Elysica?"

"I am not assuming, I know," he whispered.

"Okay, I'll play along," I replied, giving in. "How do you know that I am your wife?"

"Because how could I forget someone that I dearly loved as I loved you?" he asked, and I felt a sharp, but pleasurable pain on my neck as he bit me.

Someone clapped their hands, and I awoke with a start, putting my hands to my neck, searching for the tell tale fang marks. But there was none to be found.

"Okay, guys, it is about time for our class to be released, so I want to give you the homework the teacher left for me to assign to you," Alex said, going back over to his desk, and pulling out a stack of papers from one of the drawers.

The class gave a collective groan, and I smirked.

The bell rang, and since it was my only class for today, I stood up and stretched, ready to go home.

I hoped I could sneak past him without him noticing me.

I hid behind the other students as they walked out, trying to make myself invisible.

"Miss Smith?" I heard his voice inquire.

I sighed. Damn.

I turned around, and trudged the way back to his desk. I shifted the bag nervously on my shoulder again.

I pursed my lips as he leaned against his desk, legs and arms crossed.

"Did you enjoy the dream you were having?" he asked.

"How did you do that?"

"We are soul mates," he whispered, reaching out to touch my cheek.

I didn't pull away. I grasped his hand and held it there, savoring the touch of his hand against my face.

"I'm so confused," I admitted. "If what you are saying is the truth, then what happened to me?"

He stood up from his slouched stance, and grabbed my free hand. He held it to his lips, and kissed it, sending shivers up my arm.

"Im not sure, I have been been searching for you for two season cycles," he said, gathering me to him.

I glanced up at him.

"What did you say?" I asked, furrowing my brow.

For two season cycles you will leave...

The phrase went through my mind again.

"What do you mean, what did I say?" he frowned.

"What do you mean by two season cycles?"

"Two season cycles means two years, why?" he asked, confused.

"And you have been looking for me since I have been missing?"

"Everyday, my love," he said softly, kissing my forehead.

"Did they erase my memory?" I asked. "The people that kidnapped me?"

He hesitated.

"Have dinner with me," he said softly. "And I will explain everything I know."

I sighed.

"This better be good."
