Lament: Thunder and Ash

Oh, to be washed into the sea

By your heavy belch that lights the world

Ablaze, and sends the sea to our doors

From across the great blue waves; islands

May never be again because of you.

When day does come to eve, great

Eyes in the sky sees you explode, enough

To wake the world in sound and waves.

Suddenly for the Tongans, it is time to

Flee, as day turns to thunder and ash.
