Childless Helios
©Olan L. Smith, 11-18-2021
Enter, see Luna's dimming light
In a dark dawn firmament, arise
Early to witness Terra's shadow solarize,
A battle never won. Aptly, it is a fight
About who is more resilient, our star
Or the echoing mime of an icy stone orb.
The moon is judged deficient, it'll absorb
Little in this tantalizing tug-of-war, a bizarre
Struggle of two eternal's over the likes of us.
Incessant tugs, endless thrusts, till our star implodes
The circle between it and Earth, and Helios explodes
Burning all to cinders, We exit leaving Helios childless.
