Out Of The Fire

From where Hermione, Ron and I are pushing through the crowd, we can hear Harry gibbering slightly,

"Not going... don't need the Hospital Wing, I don't want..."

Professor Tofty is escorting him out, but Harry shakily wipes his forehead, "I'm fine sir, really, I just fell asleep... had a nightmare."

"Pressure of examinations." The man says sympathetically, patting his shoulder, "Now a cooling drink of water and perhaps you can continue after."

As soon as the Professor returns, I can see Harry rushing up the stairs wildly. I sigh, looking at my almost completed paper.

Oh well, I don't care much about History of Magic.

When his back is turned, I mutter "Screw this..." and slip out of the hall, despite warning glances from Hermione. I race up the stairs after him, just catching up with him outside the Hospital Wing.

"Potter, what do you think you're doing?" Madam Pomfrey gasps as he bursts in, me scraping in after him and breathing heavily.

Harry gasps, breath tearing his lungs, "I need to see Professor McGonagall, now! It's urgent, I..." He trails off as his lungs audibly heave.

Pomfrey sadly shakes her head, "She's not here, Potter. She was transferred to St Mungos this morning. Four Stunning Spells straight to the chest at her age? It's a wonder she's alive."

Shocked, Harry does a double take, "She's... gone?"

The terror rising in him is visible in his face as he realises there's nobody left to tell about whatever strange dream he had this time.

With a fierce approval in her face, Madam Pomfrey nods, "I don't wonder you're shocked. As if one of them could Stun Minerva McGonagall face-on by daylight! Cowardice, despicable cowardice. If I wasn't so worried about you students, I'd resign in protest."

Blankly, Harry says, "Right.", before turning to leave.

"Sorry Madam, he's just in shock, we all are, it's so awful... Best wishes." I apologetically leave after she gives me a kind smile, turning to follow Harry once more.

As we run back to the crowd that's pouring out of the hall, he seems to notice I'm there for the first time, "How'd you get out of the exam?"

"Just left, don't worry about it, let's just get the other two and you can tell us what happened."

He nods, quickly spotting them in the crowd, but they're already making their way towards us, atop the marble staircase.

"Harry, Brinley!" Hermione says, gnawing her lip in fright, "What happened? Are you alright, are you ill?"

"Where have you been?" Ron demands.

"Hospital Wing, McGonagall's gone, transferred to St Mungos." I explain hurriedly as Harry wordlessly leads us to an empty classroom along the first floor corridor.

With no further hesitation, he slams the door and rounds on us, "Voldemort's got Sirius."

"What?" Ron gasps as I almost choke on air, and Hermione turns a deathly white.

"Saw it, just now. Fell asleep in the exam."

Hermione stumbles, "But- where? How?"

Harry shakes his head, uncaring, "Dunno how, but I know where. A room in the Department of Mysteries, full of shelves covered in these little glass balls."

"Prophecies." I interject, recognising the description.

"Right, prophecies. At the end of row ninety-seven, he's trying to use Sirius to get what he wants. He's torturing him, says he'll kill him!"
