you sat in the living room of your house, busy typing away at your computer. you work as a business woman for one of the most successful companies in the city, which means you aren't somebody who has all the free time in the world. your focus was interrupted as you heard the sound of footsteps coming towards you. jake soon stepped into the living room.

"hey baby, did you g-"
he stopped as he took a look at you. "why aren't you dressed yet?" you quickly looked away from your computer, glancing at jake. you immediately felt a strong blow of guilt punch you in the chest as you noticed that he was fully dressed.  you promised to hang out with him this afternoon, but as usual, the thought completely disappeared from your mind. 

you slowly got up, your eyes softening the closer you got to him. you noticed jake's body was quite rigid and clearly filled with pure annoyance. you were about to cup his cheeks but jake pulled away, his eyes beginning to cloud up with anger.
"tell me, y/n, when's the last time we had a proper date or just spent some time with each other?" you were silenced. the amount of guilt in your chest just kept increasing by every passing second.

"jake, i'm so sorry. i forgot completely-" "forgot, huh? you forget every single time, don't you?" he scoffed.
you can tell he was hurt by the tone of his voice, and it was all your fault. "i know, jake, and i'm so sorry. i know i haven't been the best girlfriend recently." you looked deep into his eyes, making sure he heard every word.
"honestly, y/n, you've been like this for weeks now. i can't recall the last time we had a proper conversation, the last time i hugged you, the last time i kissed you. you're never at home-"

you couldn't stand to see him like this. jake's sentence was cut short as you successfully cupped his cheeks and planted a firm kiss on your lips. he was unresponsive at first, but it took him only a couple seconds to kiss you back.
his hands found their position on your back. you pulled away, still cupping his cheeks. "i know baby, i know. work has been so much recently, and i know i have been spending little to no time with you, and that's on me. i promise you, the second i get a day off or some free time, i'll spend every moment of it with you."

you watched as jake's previously tense muscles relaxed as you continued speaking. he let out a small sigh. he was still looking down at your lips.
after mere seconds of silence, he leaned in once again, kissing you as if it was the last time. your knees weakened at the feel of having him so close to you in so long.

jake pulled away, before resting his forehead on yours. "i've missed this. i've missed you." his voice was smooth and gentle. 

you gave him a soft smile. "i've missed you too."
