NEPTUNE.

-

The moon hung low in the deep violet sky, stars twinkling in his eyes like fireflies.

For a few moments, he was quiet.

"When I die," He spoke, his voice like gravel in the air. "I want them to make my body into one of those coral reefs, like in the article you told me about." Broad arms wrapped around her, squeezing slightly as if he was making sure she was real. He leaned his face into her shoulder and murmured against her neck. "One with the ocean, even when I'm gone. What about you?"

Her body vibrated as a chuckle escaped her lips. With certainty, she replied. "Don't be silly. We're going to live forever." She spoke as if she had never been sure of anything in her life, anything except for this.

"You think so?" He cracked a half-smile, watching her as she watched the sky. Fingers found one another, thumbs rubbed knuckles, lips met palms.

"Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality," She quoted, her eyes watching him carefully as he admired her delicate hands. "Emily Dickinson."

He laughed to himself softly, pressing a gentle kiss on her temple. "Then I guess you're stuck with me for a long time."
