-Hello! Welcome to a big chapter because I will admit that I need some important character development that will allow the plot to branch off into the path I really need it to go without sounding horribly rushed! Wow... that was a run-on sentence if I've ever seen one...

Anywho, there will be a big lull in the plot during this chapter for two reasons:

One, character development and semi-new/old-character reintroduction.

Two, giving the characters time to recover before the next big thing. It would be a shame—and very boring—if they died so early on just because they didn't recover. "Oh, hey! They're already almost dead; let's just walk up and kick them and defeat the main characters!" Ah, yes, such riveting action right there.

After all that, we'll ramp back up to the good stuff. That's not to say there won't be some plot snippets in this chapter, but it isn't the dominating factor here. Also, as a fair warning, there will be a little more cursing this time.

Aurora will hold the majority of the POVs for this chapter. By now, I assume people are catching on that Aurora is the primary main character in the story, so she has more "screen time" than others. For those of you who haven't figured it out yet, Aurora is the primary main character and Vaskr is the secondary main character. NFW is centralized around Auroon's/Stormfly's kiddos.

Now, without further ado, enjoy!

KRA-KOOM!

Skreee!

"Is that all you got?!" Nana Moon shouted, blasting another Scoot into oblivion with devastating power. "Come on, you dung-sniveling swine!"

I added my own Soulfire to the mix, incinerating a Scoot before it could reach us. I had a split second to glance back at my sister before engaging yet another Scoot. There wasn't any time to conserve Soulmagic; with each Scoot we destroyed, another quickly took its place. My rage assisted in making my Soulfire more potent, enabling me to use less Soulmagic with every blast, but it was exhausting all the same.

I now understood what Nana Moon had meant when she spoke of Soulburners before we had freed Aurora. My Soulfire was perfect for roasting any of the black, shrieking masses. I had a taste of the power that made the world fear the Siegebreaker, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of pride. I might not be as dangerous as Dad used to be—and still is, for that matter—, but I was still deadly in my own right.

My Soulmagic boiled in my chest as another column of Soulfire roared from my mouth, consuming my next target in purple fire. It screamed before joining its allies as little more than a charred, unmoving lump. That's for Nox!

I had my fair share of kills, but Nana Moon was obviously the hard-hitter here. Her power could obliterate multiple Scoots at once, even turning some to dust, while I was forced to incinerate one at a time.

"Keep it up, Vaskr," Moon praised during a lapse of incoming enemies. "I'm proud of you." Too breathless to speak, I gave her a small nod, then called upon my Soulfire for the next wave.

(^-^)

While Nana Moon taunted and obliterated any Scoot that dared to engage us with aid from Vaskr's Soulfire, Myrkr hightailed it toward the exit with me still draped over his back, the rest of us following Nibbler's lead. Dad carried Splinter's body, so her weight prevented him from doing much more than retreating. Nana Astra carried a different body, so she had the same problem.
