I opened the window and looked out at the street.
It was still quiet outside, but the air felt fresh since there were no cars at the moment.
It was 6 AM, but I was not tired.

I flipped the sign on the wooden door.
OPEN.

I looked at my dear Diego, at the counter behind me.
He was cleaning a few mugs.

It's been a month since we got back from our honeymoon and opened this little, cosy coffee shop.

We sold other things than our hundreds of coffee types.
Like tea, hot choco, other baked goods and candies...
Everything was hand-made with love.

The door opened, and a small bell above the door rang, followed by footsteps.
"Good morning, Mr. Edgeworth.
The usual?"
Diego asked, looking through our tea boxes.

"No, thanks.
I have a very important case today and I'm still very tired.
Do you have a coffee that's not
very bitter?"

"Hmm... maybe... no, we must have something less bitter than that...
Y/N, what do you think?"
Diego looked at me from beyond the counter.

"Hmm... maybe number 206."
I reasoned.
"Sweet, but still bitter enough to wake you up."

"You are the specialists."
Edgeworth smiled, tired.

The bell ran again.
Pearl went in, slightly jumping with money in her hands.

"Pearl?
What are you doing here this early?"

"Mr. Nick and Mystic Maya fell asleep while reading case files!
Could you believe that?
Could you please make 2 hot chocos and that coffee that Mr. Nick likes?
Oh, and 3 muffins."
Pearl asked.

"Sure thing, Pearly. I'll go get them right away."
I smiled and went to the back to get more milk for the drinks and fresh muffins.

"So, working on the same case,
I suppose?"
Diego handed Edgeworth the coffee.

"Indeed. I didn't have a case against Wright for almost a year because you used to jump on each and every case he had."

Diego rolled his eyes with a smile.

"Mr. Edgeworth lawyer friend has no chance against us!"
Pearl announced.

"Is that so...?
You just told me they fell asleep reading the files.
Therefore, they didn't finish reading.
I, read all of them.
Ergo, I'm one step before you."
Edgeworth chuckled.

"O-Oh no! I better hurry then! Byeee!!!"
Pearl rushed out as we all laughed.

I sat next to Diego behind the counter and put my head on his shoulder.

"Oh, Mr. Armando, you promised yesterday to tell me about that ring of yours."
Edgeworth reminded.

"Yea, I'd actually like to know myself."

"Well, it's something that been going around my family through generations. They are very valuable.
...yea that's it. There isn't much to say."
Diego laughed awkwardly.

"O-Oh! Mr. Edgeworth! Look at the time!"
I suddenly noticed.

"Oh no! I don't want to be late!
ThankYouHaveANiceDay!"
Edgeworth rushed out.

Even though we are not lawyers anymore, we are still up to date about trials. We just can't help it.
So we know exactly what the case is about. We truly wish both sides luck. They WILL find the truth.
We trust them.

"Aye, Diego! Detective Gumshoe just texted me an order to the precinct!"

Our little shop is very popular.
We open at 6 AM and close at 10 PM.
The busy hours were mostly before work and school and after work and school. The rest if the time, people would come randomly.

Diego and I made sure to remember all the names and sometimes we have conversations with our customers.

All those kids and families that come here... makes me think about starting a family with Diego.

"Have a safe way home, Lilith!"
I waved at our last customer.
It was already time for us to close and go home.

It took us some time to close, and rain started pouring outside.
"A-Already winter?
We don't have an umbrella..."
I mumbled as I looked outside.

"Well then, be ready to run!"
Diego removed his vest and got ready to use it for a small shield against the rain.

"Hell yea!"

I rushed to lock the door behind us and we ran, laughing like kids on our way.
We reached our house, a little out of breath.

We quickly changed, and then we set on the sofa, drinking some coffee.
One of his hands hugged me from behind, pulling me closer.

Diego still had a slight scar from that night, but the glasses distract and slightly cover it.

There was a time I tried to avoid him.
There was a time I really hated him.
There was a time I was disappointed in him.
But no matter what happened, I think I still could brush away the butterflies I was feeling.

I loved him.
I went to the hospital for years to make sure he is okay.
I stood by his side.
I fought for him.

What a cheesy situation.
'Love at first sight'? Pfffff!
Mia is probably laughing.
I can't believe it actually happened.
But I don't regret it.

Diego caught me looking at him, and he smiled warmly, his smirk slightly seeping in.

Feels like he did EVERYTHING for me.
I know it hurted him to lie and hide, but he felt like he didn't have a choice.
But then he made sure everyone knows the truth.
Only now I realise that... he never stopped loving me. No matter how harsh I was acting.
I thought he still loved Mia, but the only thing he really wanted was closure.
He even allowed me to call him by his name, risking his identity as 'Godot'.
I think that only I knew his secret.
He really trusted me and nobody else.

I felt really tired, but happy at the same time.
I don't think we ever had a bad day since we got married.
It was one of my best decisions yet.
Now I get to spend every day with him.

We softly kiss again.

I cuddled into his gentle embrace, feeling our hearts beating as one.

"Kitten, why are you so precious?"
He mumbled, half-sleepy.

"I don't know, tiger.
Why are you so valuable?"
I felt my eyes flutter shut.

"...I love you, Y/N..."

"Love you too, Diego..."
